Felts

Spread the love

When should you change out your felt on table ? I know that the casinos change them often .One reason is when they change the play like adding the fire or other bones bets .They do get a lot more were then I practice tho . I practice on SR1 so there is wear on one end more then other . So do I now go to SL1 which some times I play from in casino ? O r do I just not ? I feel good about throw at either position and feel more comfortable at sl1 even tho I am right handed . It just seems that my throw is softer from there . But then again I my just think it is when it is NOT .
It is mind over matter and I don’t mind if you can comment on this .
Also wonder if some one out there knows were I can get a new felt for a good price . My table is 12 ft.
It will be a little while before I change it out since I may be moving next year which would be a good time to do it since I would need to take the table apart for that .
I also was thinking about adding a new section on top of one half that could have micro fiber on it to give me another option instead . So that would replace the half that is wearing and give me a different type of surface to play on . Any thoughts on this ? That should be less money and less work .
In the last 9 months I have practiced vary little on my table do to to many reasons to post but have practiced more at the casinos . Which has its bad points .
I am hoping that this will change in the future .
Good Rolling. 😀 🙂

Finisher, interesting post. Thanks for posting.

I totally made a hole in in the felt where my dice were landing–the area was totally worn out. The felt I put on the table was longer than the table so I had some extra hanging down. What I did was cut a hole in the table felt about 12 inches by 12 inches—if you have enough extra felt cut a piece the same size—spray some spray adhesive in the area cut out. You may need to use some masking tape to hold down some paper to protect the rest of the felt from the spray. Then place the replacement piece of felt in the area you cut out. It worked for me. This will save you the cost of a brand new felt cover. If you don’t have some extra from the existing felt you can go to most any fabric store and purchase a 1/2 yard of felt.

BTY—Dom can help you get a new felt cover is you prefer to go that way. He referred me to someone who could provide that for me. Also the Gamblers General Store near downtown can provide you with a felt cover, although they were a little pricey. They have a wed site.

The idea of using a micro fiber layout at one end of your table is also an excellent idea.

Hope that helps. Rose and I hope to see you soon.

Hi Doc The felt was one of the big costs to build the table . I got it from were you mentioned . It has been awhile since I built it so I assume that it may cost more . At one time I bought 2 black jack felts for way less in Vegas that were used .I was hoping that some one on this site may know of were they may sell used one that is in good shape . I know that some times they change a perfectly good felt out for reasons other then that it is worn out . I wonder were they take them . Like when a casino adds a new bet to lay out or changes names .
Thank you for advise I may do that . There is no hole yet but is getting fuzzie
I think I threw the extra felt away a few years ago . How time flies by .
I think I need to give my table soom TLC for the next few months .
Good Rolling. 😀 🙂

Finisher, if you decide to "cut out and fill in" the area that is getting fuzzy, a small piece from the corner of one of your blackjack lay outs may work as well—assuming you still have them. You do don’t need to worry about BJ lines in the felt. Just a thought.

I Will look around and see what I have .Thanks for the thought .I will need to give the table some TLC first . It is not playable right now since is has been a collection place for things in the last few months .
I need to clear it out and start to practice again .
Good Rolling. 😀 🙂
