Hope everyone is doing well. I was going through some of my video files and ran across this shot from one of my VA videos. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best one I have on video (and probably not on Video, LOL). I put it to some music for fun and then I decided to slow it down, and then frame by frame, pretty cool to see how the dice fly in the air.
In real time, it is blur but I know sometimes the dice appear to move slower and I can see the numbers from behind. I think it is when your dice are really turning together it creates sort of an illusion, Hard to explain on a post but whenever I see it happen I usually get a primary number. If all my shots were like this, I would take it! I am hoping to bring this to Bossier in June. I like watching it right before I go and play to get me fired up! It’s an unlisted video on youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zqNXWUO0Xs&feature=youtu.be

Replies:

Posted by: Skinny on April 30, 2018, 4:33 am

It really is a great shot. Watching those dice rotate with the hardways rolling over one at a time, both dice rotating together in a nice tight pattern is simply fantastic. It does not get any better than that.

This results primarily because you have an excellent grip. It is light, equal pressure on both die and your fingers are perfectly straight across. As Mr. Finesse loved to say, it is all about the grip, grip and grip.

I see two things that did not hurt the throw because that grip is so good. But I want you to be aware of it in case it becomes a problem for you in the future.

You are bringing the dice slightly outside (away from your body) on the backswing, then bringing them back inside as your arm comes forward. You have a short backswing so this is not a big problem but it would be better if you brought your arm straight back and straight forward. You probably do this because it is easier with this type of swing to bring your arm away from your body on the backswing. It feels a bit more awkward to bring it straight back.

Then at release your hand is tilted ever so slightly with the inside (your pointing finger) down and the outside (the pinky side) up. I doubt I would ever notice it at regular speed. This is caused by the outside-in swing. Less likely to happen when bringing the dice straight back and straight forward.

Your dice probably did not move very much when they hit. I suspect they kissed the wall and died there. But did they move at all to your right towards the outside of the table where the dealers would be?

Don’t be too concerned. It is an amazing throw. Just a couple of minor things that might help you.

Posted by: MrPiP on April 30, 2018, 6:27 am

Pretty cool video…

Posted by: NofieldFive on April 30, 2018, 12:39 pm

Louis,

Great to hear from you again.
