So I have to travel to go to any casino. It would be great if I had a practice rig that I could fit into a suitcase or briefcase, something on the order of 17" by 12". Folding would be great, but a few screws would be fine, too. These days, I need 2 versions: a soft table and a traditional hard table.

Otherwise, I have to spend money at the casino table for warmup sessions. And, if there are 4+ other players, it can take over an hour before I’m really ready.

I’ve tried to use a dresser drawer, but the better rooms, which I usually get, have locked in drawers.

What do the rest of you do to warmup before going to the table? Or, do you, too, have to lose money for awhile until you’re really in the game?

Replies:

Posted by: getagrip on July 13, 2017, 5:27 pm

Here are a couple of simple ideas for my travel approach. Maybe you can use them as well.

(1) First off I have cut a piece of cord that is the exact tossing length I want with regard to my throwing position. I just keep that in my suitcase at all times and when I travel I pull it out to set up my practice rig in my room, always the right length between tossing and receiving stations.

(2) I use the room ironing board for my tossing station. Usually they can be adjusted to a height that is at least close to what a table rail would be.

(3) I have used the drawer trick with a towel in it for a receiving station or just tossed onto the bed with some pillows at a proper distance. These are OK but really only good for how the dice look in the air. That is really good enough. However, I was gifted with a small travel receiving station that is able to be broken down and put in a suitcase. It uses magnets for the sides to hold it all in place when set up. Since I am not handy, hopefully one of the guys that can build these will explain how they built it or maybe even have plans. Honestly, you don’t need one of these but they are nifty to have.

Posted by: Hot Shot on July 13, 2017, 6:35 pm

ive seen a travel rig on the net advertised somewhere long time ago when doing searches.
folds all up into a carry case and had legs to get it to height.
no idea where I saw that thing now, but if that’s what you want, try some google searching. You can use the chair back as a rail to lean on while setting the dice. Then throw into the bed at a proper distance.

Cmcierra

Posted by: Finisher on July 14, 2017, 12:14 am

Hi Preacher I sent you a PM .
