You will often get floormen who are nasty and will tell you that dice control "doesn’t work" or "why are you wasting your time with that?" You never hear them tell random shooters "your shot doesn’t work’ or "why are you wasting time with that?" They know random rollers are no threat to them.

But we are. I know this now from years of playing. The casinos know that dice control is real or they wouldn’t be so uptight about those of us who set the dice and throw in that excellent GTC way.

We are somewhat lucky that almost all dice setters are not dice controllers. But the flip side is that many of these dice setters take way to long to set the dice and that gives dice setters a bad name and thus that name carries over to us even though GTC throwers set and throw the dice in just a few seconds.

We are also lucky that some GTC players ignore the excellent betting advice that Frank gives and play as foolishly as ever. Such betting helps us look like regular gamblers and since most GTCers cannot overcome those high house edge bets they will lose their money. That does make the rest of us look good.

But I also know that in the casinos where I have been a consistent winner I am starting to realize that I really should spread my action around. One floorperson who has told me numerous times that dice control doesn’t work said to me the other day, "You’ve been very lucky here." He emphasized "lucky" to mean he didn’t think it was luck. I am moving to another casino and giving this one a rest.

I think dice controllers should think in terms of not giving action to the same casinos time and again. We don’t want to destroy what we have.

I have to say that I am thankful for the random rollers, the dice setters with no skills, the so-called dice controllers from other camps, and the GTC players who play poorly. But they aren’t enough to guarantee that we will all be left free and clear.

Replies:

Posted by: Dice Pilot on July 7, 2012, 1:49 am

It is a smart move not to hit the same place all of the time. IN central Wisconsin we have a decent table 50 minutes east of me, 1 hour and
15 minutes north ( if it is ever open) we have a very very very bouncy 12′ table 1.5 hours north, a very very
bouncy 12 foot table 1.5 hours east and a 16 table 40 minutes east.

I can say i am not nearly good enough to walk up to the 16 table, or either of those bouncy tables and feel i have
an edge. if that can be done i would love to spend a day with anyone that can show me how.

So my way of playing is to bet smaller amounts on the good tables so they dont get upset, when i atake a few dollars
often..

One thing i think we need to be careful of is loading up on the better tables.
