The gallery and pop-up store features memorabilia from the Las Vegas Club and will celebrate a grand opening next Tuesday.

In many ways, the now-closed Las Vegas Club was like a downtown sports museum.

Owner Mel Exber turned the casino’s walls into a memorabilia shrine, much of it dedicated to the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. The restaurant was named the Dugout and the Las Vegas Club’s exterior facade was a tribute to Brooklyn’s historic Ebbet’s Field.

The former operators of the casino are now offering its customers a chance to own a piece of its history. Sports-related memorabilia from the Las Vegas Club will be sold through a pop-up gallery at the nearby Plaza that opens Tuesday.

Hundreds of sports-themed items, which decorated the Las Vegas Club, are being made available for the public to view and purchase. The downtown hotel-casino at the corner of Fremont Street and Main Street closed in August and was sold to D Las Vegas owner Derek Stevens and his brother Greg.

The Las Vegas Club Sports Memorabilia Gallery opens at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Plaza with a event for the public that includes a drawing to win one of the pieces. Beginning Wednesday, the location will be open daily from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Among the items featured for sale include a signed Michael Jordan University of North Carolina Tar Heels basketball jersey; a framed Pete Rose No. 14 Montreal Expos jersey, flanked by a photo of the baseball great as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies and his official Cincinnati Reds’ baseball card; two official seats from Comiskey Stadium in Chicago; and an autographed bat collection from the 1946-1958 World Series games.

Jonathan Jossel, chief executive officer of Plaza hotel-casino holds up an autographed bat collection from World Series years 1946-1958 at Las Vegas Club Gallery at Plaza hotel-casino Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, in Las Vegas. The property was owned by the Tamares Group, which also owns the Plaza. PlayLV operated the casinos at both properties and incorporated Las Vegas Club’s gaming operations into the Plaza.

Jossel said the Plaza wanted to share the sports memorabilia collection with the public.

Baseball memorabilia is organized for hanging at Las Vegas Club Gallery at Plaza hotel-casino Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, in Las Vegas.
