\nOK GTC Players, However stupid this must sound, does anyone wash their dice and if so with what. I have noticed my dice seemed a bit sticky (get your minds out of the gutter)and wondered if it is standard practice to clean them periodically. Professor<\/p>\n

Actually I have never washed my practice dice. ….. Mine never get sticky \ud83d\ude09 <\/p>\n

Hey Prof!<\/p>\n

\tI do periodically clean my dice as the heat and humidity here make it mandatory to clean the cubes. I use a couple of different things.<\/p>\n

\t(1) for my most current pair or two of dice—these are the ones I use for casino sessions and recording my numbers—I use alcohol prep wipes. I keep some of these little foil packets on my throwing station. You can get these at any pharmacy and they will probably be with the diabetic supplies as they are supposed to be used prior to injections. It is a convenient way to clean a small number of dice.<\/p>\n

\t(2) for my several hundred old dice I use for targeting drills I just dump them all in a bowl or sink full of warm water with dishwashing liquid–I use Dawn but that is just what I have. Anything will do. Since these already have lots of dings and I don’t really care if they get more, I slosh them around a bit and then rinse them several times and dump them on a bath towel to air dry.<\/p>\n

I’m just wondering if the alcohol impacts the dice themselves, perhaps affects the finish and therefore the reaction on the table?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tYes, I have thought of that also and I certainly can’t give a definitive answer on that. It is certainly possible.<\/p>\n

\tSince I only use a set of dice for about 2 weeks and I only need to clean them 2 or 3 times per week I am willing to take that chance and I have not noticed any problems personally with my dice.<\/p>\n

\tIf you notice any differences in your dice finish then I would definitely discontinue the alcohol use.<\/p>\n

\tAlso, just using the alcohol swab to clean the finger tips and not the dice would probably cut down a lot on the dirty dice problem but also might dry out your finger tips.<\/p>\n

\tYou all might have to experiment on what you think works for you and what doesn’t.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

H9 and Getagrip, I tried the alcohol remedy. I was also leary of the effect it would have on the finish of the dice, however,what I found was that there was no effect on the finish and it cleared up the stickiness. So thank you Getagrip for solving my problem. Professor<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
