Guys like Frank Scoblete can place the 6/8 for $150 a wop n bang them out 8-10 times off the 3V and make a nice piece of change off an 18 number roll. He’s a sniper! My strength is more in avoiding the seven. I might roll the 5 fourteen times….I need to get paid well off that. I stay alive with a lot of 1 on and 1 off axis rolls. That’s why I stay with the 4/4 on top and the 5/5 facing me. It gives me the best protection against the 7 and when I get hot the hardways come in bunches. I’m playing a variation of The Big skinny which is pretty similar to his play except I don’t have the bankroll to max out from the start on a 10x table. Most of my presses go to odds after I’m up on a few numbers and have gotten a few hits to get my spread back. He’s maxed out from the jump so after he gets his hits he starts placing numbers on top of his come bets. It makes more sense for me to press my wins in odds until I get to max. I start with the pass line 3x odds and 2 or 3 come bets 3x odds on a $10 table. My goal is to get covered across the board on the come bets with $100 odds and after a few wins start placing the come bet wins. Money in the rack locked up, hit a 10 for $210 off the come bet and buy it for $200 on top of the come bet. Money never comes out the come box. I also stay flexible. I took a play out of Frank’s playbook by keeping a few bills reserved to put on the hot number. The hot number is not always what I want it to be and sometimes it is. Regardless, I need to recognize the hot number and be all over it. I prefer when the hot number is the hard 8 or the 4 or 10 cause I can really do some damage. It takes patience, it’s not something you force. Buy the four for 3 bills take a hit then go to a G. If it stays the hot number you can be at max with a rack full of colorful chips before you know it. I use chips to count my roll. I want to know where I’m at in the rollI. The shot is a light even grip high on the dice. Square to the back wall with a slight tilt toward me 1 hop to the wall. I find a good spot on the table and I want to hit that spot all night long. I’m looking for consistent set correlation so I can take advantage. I might roll the 5/4 six times in a row. The 4th time it’s getting hopped for a quarter. Running the come bets across and pressing wins after I break through to the profit zone is my basic game. That’s very controlled but I still stay open minded to what’s going on in the game so I can really take advantage of predictable patterns based on my ability to duplicate the shot consistently enough to really get paid!

I’ve met and played with hundreds of would be dice controllers in the casinos. Either they are betting too much money with a terrible shot or they are not betting enough with good shots. Few have both and the terrible ones far outnumber the good ones. A guy with a terrible shot can be profitable. I bet a don’t come bet against them. It’s still almost 50/50 but by setting the hardway set and consistently throwing off axis it just seems like these guys are 7 machines. I refuse to bet with a bad looking shot. They can only beat me by luck not skill. That same luck will cause them to think they are doing something right and will lose them long run money because it’s a random game. I thank God for giving me an Edge. Come bets cause me to focus more and they play to my strength of avoiding the 7. I still keep myself very receptive to Big money gains…..to be continued.

Replies:

Posted by: The Contractor on February 16, 2015, 11:34 pm

So good to see you on the board again. I never, never, leave home without my two di that I glued together. Be sure they are very straight and square, and dry that way. Think you are hot stuff…toss the barrel and it wobbles all over the place. For me, it is the best tool of all. For me.

Slightest adjustment, makes a difference in a motion you are able to see easily. Until that barrel SLAPS your practice board…you are really not ready to practice anything meaningful, and darn sure not ready for the table. Make you a couple of them. Over the years some have come apart again but not until they have seen a lot of use. It doesn’t take more than a drop of glue. Otherwise you will end up with it oozing out and making a big mess on your dice. Make sure you get the two really squared up when you glue them. If they are off even slightly they will fly funny because of the misalignment. Also, let them dry for at least 24 hours before you use them. Good way to use up "retired" dice. I have at least a half dozen barrels I use for practice.

This is what has worked for me so hope it helps you. 🙂

Posted by: DavidM on February 21, 2015, 6:30 pm

Bman, I do remember shooting into the "practice box" you had in your room.
