{"id":8629,"date":"2015-02-07T22:29:01","date_gmt":"2015-02-07T22:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumarchives.tmsites.net\/index.php\/2015\/02\/07\/thomas-jefferson-2\/"},"modified":"2015-02-07T22:29:01","modified_gmt":"2015-02-07T22:29:01","slug":"thomas-jefferson-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumarchives.tmsites.net\/index.php\/2015\/02\/07\/thomas-jefferson-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Thomas Jefferson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- Original Post Content --><br \/>\nThomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 5, began <br \/>\n\tstudying under his cousin&#8217;s tutor.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 9, studied <br \/>\n\tLatin, Greek and French.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 14, studied <br \/>\n\tclassical literature and additional languages.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 16, entered <br \/>\n\tthe College of William and Mary.<br \/>\n\tAlso could write in Greek with one hand <br \/>\n\twhile writing the same in Latin with the other.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 19, studied <br \/>\n\tLaw for 5 years starting under George Wythe.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 23, started <br \/>\n\this own law practice.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 25, was <br \/>\n\telected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 31, wrote the <br \/>\n\twidely circulated &quot;Summary View of the Rights of British America&quot; And <br \/>\n\tretired from his law practice.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 32, was a <br \/>\n\tdelegate to the Second Continental Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 33, wrote the <br \/>\n\tDeclaration of Independence.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 33, took <br \/>\n\tthree years to revise Virginia&#8217;s legal code and wrote a Public Education <br \/>\n\tbill and a statute for Religious Freedom.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 36, was <br \/>\n\telected the second Governor of Virginia succeeding Patrick <br \/>\n\tHenry.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 40, served in <br \/>\n\tCongress for two years.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 41, was the <br \/>\n\tAmerican minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with European nations along with Ben Franklin and John Adams..<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 46, served as <br \/>\n\tthe first Secretary of State under George Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 53, served as Vice President and was elected president of the American Philosophical Society.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active head of Republican Party.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 57, was <br \/>\n\telected the third president of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase doubling the nation&#8217;s size.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 61, was elected to a second term as President.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 65, retired to Monticello ..<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 80, helped President Monroe shape the Monroe Doctrine.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 81, almost single-handedly created the University of Virginia and served as its first president.<\/p>\n<p>\tAt 83, died on the 50th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence along with John Adams.<\/p>\n<p>\tThomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. <br \/>\n\tHe understood actual history, the nature of God, His laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today.<\/p>\n<p>\tJefferson really knew his stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\tvoice from the past to lead us in the future:<\/p>\n<p>\tJohn F. Kennedy held a dinner in the White House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement: &quot;This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&quot;When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,we shall become as corrupt as Europe .&quot;&#8211;<br \/>\n\tThomas <br \/>\n\tJefferson<\/p>\n<p>\t&quot;The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.&quot;<br \/>\n\t&#8212; <br \/>\n\tThomas <br \/>\n\tJefferson<\/p>\n<p>\t&quot;It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
