Better to be a little longer than you need rather than coming up short in the long dimension.
My table is 62" wide and 13 feet long. Be sure to measure the "inside" of the shed and not the overall.Good luck.

OMC

Posted by: Dr Crapology on January 27, 2015, 1:01 pm

Beware, assuming the shed will be outside, remember that the weather can have some effect on your table and / or your practice. If you live where there can be some extreme weather conditions such as very cold, very hot, or lots of moisture this can affect the table as well as when you can or cannot practice.

Have good lighting in the shed and perhaps a small space heater when the weather is cold. Believe it or not you can make a very small "air conditioner" that will help when it is hot. Google "how to make a 5 gallon bucket air conditioner" and there are several videos of how to do this. Even Mr. Guy Who Can’t Make Much Of Anything made one with his grandson. A fun little project. It will help in the summer.

Our table is inside the house but close to the bedroom. Rose usually sleeps a little later than me, but being close to our bed room makes it a little difficult to practice early. But I make up for that later in the day.

Doc

Posted by: JimmyNeutron on January 27, 2015, 3:12 pm

Breeze, Where I live, Westchester Co. NY, they tax you for everything you put up over 120 sq ft. Don’t know how fussy they are where you are but in good old NYS the assessors are always looking. Check with the code dept. first and then go ahead. I would be aware of the climate effect on the table and build accordingly.
Bigger is always better.

Doug

Posted by: Goldfinger on January 27, 2015, 4:08 pm

Be sure you build it big enough to hold all of your living room furniture.
You have to have your priorities straight.

Goldfinger

Posted by: Dr Crapology on January 27, 2015, 10:43 pm

Goldfinger, are you suggesting this because you have been banned to the basement " dog house."!!!!!

Doc

Posted by: Scan on January 28, 2015, 10:52 pm

I think the Breeze is in NJ. The city dictates that if it is larger than 120 sq. ft. that I need to follow building codes and set backs which would really screw me so I followed the code. They also have an 8′ tall maximum so I am going with a lean to style flat roof with a very slight slope to maximize interior height. If I decide I need more space I’ll buy another smaller shed and still be in code.

I live in Southern California and it does get cold and miserable for periods of time such that I quit practicing.
