If I play with someone who looks like an advantage player but not known as one of us, then I’ll record as ADV or us as GT* to that I can see if I’ve ID’d and it makes any difference in results. It has the date, casino and room for the time if you wish. I don’t use it much. I have a grid of 120 rolls. I put the number rolled, if a hardway I underline it, points made get circled. Seven outs get an X with a cross bar for a star and breaks up the numbers. Easy to count later.

Most casinos have no problem with it on the rail. Actually I recorded what at the time was my best in a casino of 47 rolls. Filling it out does not interfere with my rhythm but becomes just a part of it. It is about 5" x 5" and coil bound. Fits a jacket pocket nicely.

What I do now is use a checkbook register to track my bankroll. In the check column is amount of the buy-in, later I count and enter money I came home with
then take previous balance, subtract buy-in and add come home money for a new total and all on the same line. Simple, works. You also have room for the date and can add comments in the check payable to area.

OMC

Posted by: TheLion on January 13, 2015, 4:01 pm

Mr. Finesse — that’s exactly what we did for FY 2014

It was amazing to see the numbers and trends — the places where the good wins were at — and where we had our bad losses

Posted by: Goldfinger on January 13, 2015, 5:19 pm

When Butch and Lefty play it is usually just a day trip. They go to the casinos with their daily loss limit only in their pocket. They share a bankroll and buy in for the same amount each time. After each session if one wins more than the other the money is then evened up. This shared bankroll offsets the five count where one player could have three hits before the other gets into the game. The ups and downs are a lot smoother.
With just three good tables to play in the whole city it is easy to keep track of table conditions. They have a designated route to follow each day and the first table with spots available is where they play. by playing every week they know the tables well. One table actually counts the rolls for them.longest roll of the day wins $50. The last trip up Butch had a 31 but it got posted as a 28.

Wins and losses are recorded by either putting money in the sock drawer or taking it out.

Goldfinger

Posted by: billythekid on January 13, 2015, 7:02 pm

Thomas,

I was also using the Gamblers Anonymous app. The great Bill Burton was the first one to show me that app.

The idea and function was great because you, as the user, could enter lots of different information and structure it in any way that you wanted. The problem was, because the user had so many options, as the file grew larger it became unstable and would crash and you would have to reload the app which was a pain. I never lost any information but worried about it a lot and would email files often to protect my data.

Now you can’t even reload the app from itunes or the app store. I guess the maker has given up on supporting it.

I looked at and tried a number of apps after this apps demise and have settled on 2 that I use together.

I use my401G as GreenMachine does. This app is very stable because the designer will not allow any customization by the user. The designer is very good about adding casinos to the database when you find one that is not listed but isn’t so inclined to add new games so that limits it somewhat for me since I play many different games and variations. It took some prodding ( I sent many emails ) but they finally added a notes feature which allows for custom entries. Since this function was added I have stopped looking for something else.

The other app that I use is documents free, which is a simple excel spreadsheet. This app only supports a few simple math functions but is a regular spreadsheet so you can enter whatever custom information that you require.

I use my401G for quick after session entries and then duplicate those entries in the documents app with expanded information later.

BTK

Posted by: ThomasH on January 14, 2015, 1:48 am

BTK

You had the same problems I had with Gamblers Anonymous.

I will get My401g and give it a try.
