\tNORWALK, Conn. (CBSNewYork\/AP) \u2013 A man who stabbed passengers on a casino-bound tour bus on Interstate 95 in Connecticut was fatally shot by state police, officials said Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\tThe unidentified man began attacking passengers around 10 p.m., state police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance said. The bus driver then pulled into a construction site in Norwalk where he flagged down a trooper.<\/p>\n

\tAs the trooper approached the bus, the suspect and a passenger \u201cwere engaged in physical combat, rolled off the bus and onto the pavement of the highway,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n

\tThe suspect acted aggressively toward the trooper and was shot when he refused to drop his weapon, described as a \u201ccutting instrument,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cOnce the suspect realized the trooper was close by, the suspect began to advance towards the trooper with that cutting instrument,\u201d Vance said. \u201cThe trooper was forced to draw his service weapon, fired on the suspect, striking the suspect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe man died at a hospital. Two people were stabbed and another person suffered non-life threatening injuries when a bullet from the officer\u2019s gun ricocheted off the pavement. There was no immediate word on the condition of the two people stabbed.<\/p>\n

\tThe trooper wasn\u2019t injured.<\/p>\n

\tThe bus, carrying about 24 passengers, was headed from Chinatown in New York City to a Connecticut casino.<\/p>\n

\tPolice will \u201cget all the facts and circumstances\u201d from the passengers as part of the investigation, Vance said.<\/p>\n

\tThe northbound lanes of the interstate were closed more than seven hours from late Tuesday night until early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
