It’s been so easy to see this coming. Here’s the marketing strategy now in use by most AC, Vegas and Tunica casinos:<\/p>\n

\tDon’t be happy with winning 97% of the take. Instead, get greedy and wring out the remaining 3%.<\/p>\n

\tMake the games essentially unbeatable. 8-deck shoes, CSM’s, awful slot payout schedules, etc..<\/p>\n

\tShould anyone happen to actually win, be sure to let them know they’re no longer welcome…<\/p>\n

\tAnd, to add insult to injury, make guests grovel for a free buffet or room comp…<\/p>\n

\tHow’s that working out for ya?<\/p>\n

As the NJ Governor said a few years ago "The casinos can govern themselves"<\/p>\n

Our "brilliant" governor, who encouraged Revel to build (now in bankruptsy), has now decided that two new casinos in northern NJ is the way to go. But, what does he know about NJ? He’s too busy traveling outside the state, promoting other politicians, in preparation for running for President.<\/p>\n

\tThis might just be the death knell for AC.<\/p>\n

The REVEL???<\/p>\n

\tThat’s the one that has 9 pools and "just happens" to have a Casino on-site<\/p>\n

\t$350 a night for a room for a non-card holder and they wonder why they’re not thriving<\/p>\n

\tFolks that go to the NJ beaches want a $29.99 room at HO-JO’s and don’t want to pay almost $400\/night<\/p>\n

AC once had not only a thriving middle class but it also had a sizable population albeit, mostly seasonal wealthy class.<\/p>\n

\tWithout out getting into politics, a lot of bad policy caused both to die out or flee.<\/p>\n

\tGambling came along and it was going to be the panacea.<\/p>\n

\tIt worked in bring tourists back, for a while.<\/p>\n

\tMillions raised was funneled into social programs like building housing.<\/p>\n

\tAlas the inevitable happened, people that were given free housing had no attachment to it. There was no "pride of ownership". The places quickly became dirty crime filled dangerous places.<\/p>\n

\tThe elected official that should have been policing the area instead chose to line their pockets. Politician after politician fell to corruption probes.<\/p>\n

\tAt the same time casino management was evolving from casino entertainment leaders to accountants.<\/p>\n

\tThe bottom line became their god.<\/p>\n

\tThey made games harder to have a modest win. They raised minimums bets to churn players faster.<\/p>\n

\tThey delayed maintenance on properties to the point that casinos had duct tape across ripped carpeting, decades old hotel rooms had mismatched furniture stained carpets and the stench of hidden mold.<\/p>\n

\tVagrants roamed the slots aisles aggressively panhandling. Afraid of being called a "insensitive" or worse yet be forever branded with the "racist" scarlet letter, casino security at the direction of cowering management turned a blind eye to the smelly riff raff harassing elderly day trippers.<\/p>\n

\t…….. And that as they say is that<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tHarrah’s led the parade. They have taken the lead in making the games worse. They were not content with low house edge games. You can’t find a decent return Video Poker game in AC anymore. The 8 deck blackjack with crappy rules, the 6\/5 stuff, all with high table minimums. <\/p>\n

\tIt appears to me that these Casino corporations are churning themselves out of business. They have sucked the gaming dollars out of the responsible gamblers. This is just beginning. AC should be the "canary in the coal mine" for the casino industry. I don’t think the new breed of casino executives are smart enough to see it though.<\/p>\n

\tTruly a sad state of affairs, indeed.<\/p>\n

When we went to Atlantic City we were surprised that you pay for Diamond lounge and that VP pay for royal was 1500 instead of 4,000 coins .
\n\tSo they ended up getting less ACTION from us . We also was able to take more trips to look around for that reason .

The VP games I have seen in AC pay 4,000 coins for a Royal on max coin.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I remember one time checking a bank of VP machines at Grand. Fairly certain that Harrahs had bought it by then. Of the five machines in the bank, two paid 1,500 for the Royal while the other three paid the expected 4,000.<\/p>\n

The wife was the one that pointed it out to me . We went around looking and found that some you had to play 10 coins for max. also think the pay was different tho .
\n\tBut my wife made the mistake of hitting Max. when first getting there to find that was 10 coins . Luck was on her side to get a pair for a return of her bet . She then made sure how much Max. bet was after that .
\n\tIt pays to look before you loose ALL .
\n\tMy son thought that Max. bet was 5 on all machines . So he put 10.00 in a penny machine and hit Max. bet for 4 pulls and NO money left to find out that Max. bet is not always 5 coins . \ud83d\ude42 \ud83d\ude42
