Last night my wife and I decide to drive up to Connecticut. She is not a gambler so when when we come up here, it’s for a fun night away from the kids. No serious gambling.

Had a wonderful comped dinner at Michael Jordons and then did some shopping. Found her a nice bracelet which we bought so she is in a good mood wandering around the casino and I spot this new game I’ve never seen before. So we head over to watch. After ten minutes, she sees I’m getting antsy so she tells me to play. Ok! Don’t have to tell me twice. She takes out $20 and sits at a $.025 machine. Yes that’s right. I made no mistake. It is a 1/4 of a cent machine. $20 will last her awhile.

I sit to play. It’s called "High Card Flush". You and the dealer are dealt 7 cards each. Only thing that matters is the suit. So 4 kings means nothing. I looked up the house edge on wizard of odds (everyone should know that site. It’s a great tool to have as a casino game player). But I couldn’t really determine the house edge. Found an optimal strategy chart which I played for a out an hour and had a blast. It was a lot of fun. Anyone ever play it before??

Had one hand of 24 in craps before bed on a 5x odds table which made me some nice money and we went to bed. Heading Down to play serious craps in an hour when she goes to the spa.

Midnight

Replies:

Posted by: Pit Boss on July 6, 2014, 3:41 pm

Midnight:

Wow a steakhouse comp on $0.025 play, hope your host doesn’t find out. The HA on the ante wager is 2.71% if you use the Mousseau Strategy and 2.64% if you use regular Optimal Strategy.

The HA on the Flush side wager is either 7.95% or 7.81% depending on the pay table.

The HA on the Straight Flush side wager is 13.1%.

So, the HA is comparable to 3 Card Poker but not as good as Pai Gow Poker if you follow the advise I gave in the book I wrote with Frank, Stickman and Bill Burton.

Posted by: MIDNIGHT on July 6, 2014, 11:44 pm

Just commenting on Debbie’s big gambling. The game is a table game. Fun to play and I had a good time killing time until this am when I hit the $25 table with 5x. Met up with some other GTCers. Didn’t count my rolls, but had three in the 20’s and one probably close to 40 if not into the 40’s. Not sure if anyone else was counting. All in all, absolutely a great time. Love spending time with my baby and love playing craps. What else could I ask for. Thanks to John, Angel, Debbie and Tom. Fun hanging out with you guys.

Midnight

So this message comes to you from my hotel room.
