\tFourth of July fireworks shows for 2014
\n\tThere is no shortage of festive Fourth of July celebrations planned in Southern Nevada. Here is a sampling of events with fireworks.<\/p>\n
\tTHURSDAY<\/p>\n
\tIndependence Day Jubilee: 3-9:30 p.m. at Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas. Event also includes a performance by Michael Grimm, carnival and vendors ($8; $5 in advance; 702-633-2650; cityofnorthlasvegas.com).<\/p>\n
\tLas Vegas 51s Fireworks Extravaganza: 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. A fireworks show will follow the game between the Las Vegas 51s and Salt Lake Bees ($15-$25; lv51.com).<\/p>\n
\tNight of Fire at LVMS: Gates open at 5 p.m. at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North. NASCAR-sanctioned stock car racing and waterless boat races also included, with fireworks at about 10 p.m. ($8-$20, free for ages 5 and younger; 702-644-4444; lvms.com).<\/p>\n
\tFRIDAY<\/p>\n
\tBoulder City Damboree: Events are planned all day, with the evening program of games, food and music starting at 6 at Veterans Memorial Park, 1650 Buchanan Blvd. Fireworks will begin at about 9 p.m. (free admission; $10 parking; 702-293-9256; bcnv.org).<\/p>\n
\tFireworks at Caesars Palace: The show will launch at about 9 p.m. at 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South.<\/p>\n
\tFireworks at the Linq: The show will launch at about 9:30 p.m. from the High Roller lot at 3545 Las Vegas Blvd. South (from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., general admission tickets for the High Roller observation wheel are $49.95; large group rates available; thelinq.com).<\/p>\n
\tFireworks at Mandalay Bay Beach: Doors open at 8 p.m. for the event featuring local classic rock band Phoenix and fireworks at 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South ($20 per person; $60 for a family four-pack; 800-745-3000).<\/p>\n
\tFireworks at Station Casinos: A nine-minute show from Fireworks by Grucci of New York will launch after 9 p.m. at Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway in Henderson, and Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd.<\/p>\n
\tFireworks at Stratosphere: Featuring a pool party with music by Zowie Bowie and fireworks 6-11 p.m. at Stratosphere\u2019s Level 8 Pool at 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South ($10 for pool party; tower admission to Levels 108 and 109 is $28 for the general public and $10 for hotel guests from 6 to 10 p.m.; stratospherehotel.com).<\/p>\n
\tFourth of July Celebration: 6-9:15 p.m. at Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Drive, Henderson. Also includes music by the Randy Anderson Band and Henderson Symphony Orchestra and children\u2019s and family activities. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. (free admission; hendersonlive.com).<\/p>\n
\tStars, Stripes & Sparks: 6 p.m. at Knickerbocker Park at Providence master-planned community, 10695 Dorrell Lane. There also will be music by the Parametrics and contests. A fireworks preview will be at 8:45 p.m. with the main show starting at 9:15 (free admission; providencelv.com).<\/p>\n
\tFireworks at Primm: The Pyrotecnico fireworks show at Primm Valley Casino Resorts will start at dusk (primmvalleyresorts.com).<\/p>\n
\tLiberty Festival at Pahrump: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. at Petrack Park at state Route 160 and Basin Avenue. There also will be games, music and food. Fireworks will start at 9 p.m. (visitpahrump.com).<\/p>\n

\tConditions were better than we expected. The middle of the Strip was crowded, but not extremely. Table minimums were not raised, with the lone exception of one table which had a minimum of $500 – it was empty. Mrs. ScarletGold and I were able to find tables with SL1 (for her) and SR1 (for me) open without much trouble.<\/p>\n
\tThis was our first outing after the June Las Vegas GTC Primer, and we worked to apply what we had been taught. Mrs. SG had two long rolls back to back, and I had a long roll at each of two different casinos.<\/p>\n
\tAs to the Five-Count: I am convinced that somewhere out there is a malevolent, very smart Chief Chicken Feeder who is teaching his minions to beat the five count, and to never repeat the ending box number – this happened to each of us repeatedly!<\/p>\n
\tEven with this, we still had a successful trip. GTC’s methods worked for us, and we brought home a bank which was 50% larger than the one we took to Vegas.<\/p>\n
\tOur thanks to Alligator Rose and the rest of the GTC instructors. This was the first time we had beaten the House on a trip in a number of years.<\/p>\n
