In January 1955, he purchased George\u2019s Gateway Club on the Lake Tahoe border of Stateline Avenue and Highway 50 (photo No. 1)<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i61.tinypic.com\/2hrg9qd.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n\twhich he opened as Harrah\u2019s Club (No. 2) that summer.<br \/>\n\t2<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i61.tinypic.com\/2088bgw.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tUntil about 1960, Carson Valley landowners were still using the green meadows of summertime Tahoe for grazing cattle (No. 3).<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i59.tinypic.com\/2wcqkoz.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cThe Wildest Show at Tahoe\u201d album (Capitol Records No. T-908, regarded as a classic) was recorded there in 1957 (No. 4)<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i62.tinypic.com\/sc80n7.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/> with Louis Prima, Keely Smith, and Sam Butera and The Witnesses in the original small South Shore Room.<\/p>\n<p>\tA decade and more later, Bill Cosby would record several of his comedy albums live in the new 750-seat South Shore Room across the street.<\/p>\n<p>\tIn the late 1950s, Harrah\u2019s expanded across the street with the purchase of Sahati\u2019s Stateline Country Club and the Nevada Club (No. 5)<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i62.tinypic.com\/ws2urs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/> which became Tahoe Harrah\u2019s. A hotel was built in 1977 and today the name is Harrah\u2019s Lake Tahoe (No. 6).<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i61.tinypic.com\/2qw3ebn.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tAbout mid-1960s, the original Harrah\u2019s Club on the corner next to Harveys was rebranded as Harrah\u2019s Thrifty Gambler. Harrah\u2019s ultimately sold that corner property to Harveys.<\/p>\n<p>\tAs destiny has determined, it was Harrah\u2019s in 2001 that purchased all of Harveys which includes the original 1955 Harrah\u2019s Club corner location (No. 7).<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i59.tinypic.com\/t88105.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tAs a side note, I worked for the Harrah&#8217;s casino in 1983. It was right after Bill Harrah died.
