\nMelbourne\u2019s Crown Casino is taking a Chinese high-roller to task over unpaid debts amounting to almost AUD$8 million.<\/p>\n
\tThe casino has taken legal action against Zhao Li over the latter\u2019s astronomical debt that reached seven figures after an incredible gambling spree back in 2011 that left Crown lighter in the pockets to the tune of AUD$6,895,632.<\/p>\n
\tAccording to the Herald-Sun, Li, a Chinese national with a since abandoned home in Melbourne, went on a two-week gambling bender inside the Crown casino in Melbourne after getting a AUD$6 million credit facility months earlier.<\/p>\n
\tBut his time inside the casino didn\u2019t go exactly as he planned and in a little over four days, he had already asked the casino to increase his debt limit to AUD$8 million. After successfully convincing the casino to allow it, it only took Li less than a week to ask for another debt limit increase, this time to AUD$10 million. And shortly after that \u2013 two days, to be exact \u2013 the casino once again raised the limit to AUD$13 million on the condition that Li fork over the money on the same day.<\/p>\n
\tWhether he did pay up or not wasn\u2019t made clear in court documents but apparently, Li was allowed to return to the casino the very next day and again received credit amounting to AUD$8 million.<\/p>\n
\tIn the end, Li finished his extraordinary run on the tables neck deep in debt at almost AUD$7 million, an amount that Crown alleges the high-roller hasn\u2019t paid yet.<\/p>\n
\tSo after over two years of repeated requests to settle his credit, Crown finally had enough of Li\u2019s refusal to pay up, opting instead to have the issue settled in court where it\u2019s now demanding the high-roller to settle his debt and tack on another AUD$1 million in interest and costs.<\/p>\n
