{"id":7201,"date":"2014-04-03T15:56:03","date_gmt":"2014-04-03T15:56:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumarchives.tmsites.net\/index.php\/2014\/04\/03\/high-roller-claims-casinos-stuck-him-with-pricey-freebies-after-100k-win\/"},"modified":"2014-04-03T15:56:03","modified_gmt":"2014-04-03T15:56:03","slug":"high-roller-claims-casinos-stuck-him-with-pricey-freebies-after-100k-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumarchives.tmsites.net\/index.php\/2014\/04\/03\/high-roller-claims-casinos-stuck-him-with-pricey-freebies-after-100k-win\/","title":{"rendered":"High-roller claims casinos stuck him with pricey freebies after $100K win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- Original Post Content --><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i57.tinypic.com\/cjfy1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\tBy Selim Algar NY Post<\/p>\n<p>\tHe\u2019s taking on Atlantic City.<br \/>\n\tA wealthy Long Island businessman and self-described \u201chigh-roller\u201d gambler is suing a pair of ritzy Atlantic City casinos for begging him to spend his cash at their tables \u2013 and then sticking him with bills for pricey freebies they\u2019d promised him when he proceeded to win more than $100,000, according to a Brooklyn federal lawsuit.<br \/>\n\tMillionaire gambler Darryl Abramowitz claims that breathless reps from the Borgata and Revel casinos repeatedly contacted him and offered up lavish complimentary amenities \u2014 from poolside cabanas to personal butlers \u2014 so he would blow his stacks of cash inside their gambling dens, according to his suit.<br \/>\n\tAbramowitz, of Merrick, claims that he is known as a heavy-hitting gambler across the country and is frequently lobbied to play at top gaming facilities, the suit states.<br \/>\n\t\u201cBy most, if not all standards, including the defendants herein, he is considered a \u2018high roller\u2026\u2019 \u201d the suit states.<br \/>\n\tThe blackjack whiz claims that Revel representative Frank Playo contacted him in March of 2012 and offered him \u201cRFB\u201d \u2014 casino slang for a free room, food and beverages.<br \/>\n\tIn addition, Playo offered up a poolside cabana large enough to accommodate Abramowitz and his family, the suit states.<br \/>\n\tAfter spending three days at the facility, Abramowitz managed to rack up $23,000 in blackjack winnings and decided it was time to hit the road back to Long Island.<br \/>\n\tBut after he got a $3,747 bill for his cabana celebration, Abramowitz complained to Revel officials who assured him that it was all a mistake, the suit states.<br \/>\n\tAbramowitz claims that Playo later reneged on his promise to reverse the charges and told him \u201cyou actually won some bets \u2026 you can handle your bill,\u201d suit papers state.<br \/>\n\t\u201cThey do it all the time,\u201d Abramowitz told The Post. \u201cThey promise you things and then don\u2019t give them to you.\u201d<br \/>\n\tThe gambler also claims that Borgata representatives pestered him to come play at their complex \u2014 and offered him free room, food and beverage as well as $5,000 to blow at luxury stores in the casino.<br \/>\n\tBut their enthusiasm for following through on the freebies receded after Abramowitz won a whopping $105,000.<br \/>\n\tThinking it was all on the house, Abramowitz soon spent $900 on clothes at a Hugo Boss store and asked for a $500 voucher to the pricey \u201cOld Homestead Steakhouse.\u201d<br \/>\n\t\u201cAlthough the Plaintiff had been told that he could bill everything through his room, which was comped along with the shopping and steakhouse bills, after he left, all such expenses that were placed on his credit card were not removed,\u201d the suit states.<br \/>\n\tAbramowitz claims that a Borgata rep balked when he asked for his money to be returned. \u201cWe are running a business here \u2014 we don\u2019t need customers like you.\u201d<br \/>\n\tHis attorney, Brian Davis, said that casinos are far less willing to follow through on comp requests when players are winning.<br \/>\n\t\u201cIf my client was down $100,000 they would do anything they could to have him stay,\u201d he said. \u201cHe was up, he decided it was time to walk away, and they didn\u2019t like that.\u201d<br \/>\n\tRevel and Borgata reps did not immediately return calls for comment.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Replies:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"migrated-reply\" style=\"border: 1px solid #eee;padding: 15px;margin-bottom: 15px;border-radius: 5px\">\n<p><strong>Posted by:<\/strong> Dr Crapology on April 5, 2014, 11:47 am<\/p>\n<div>And this comes as a surprise???   The casinos are really getting crazy.  Although I must agree he can certainly pay for the services with his winnings, the casino made an offer and should stick with it.  It makes more sense to provide the freebies,  ask him back, with more freebies and they will probably with back the money, the freebies and much, much more.  It only makes sense.  The casinos have the edge on every bet in the house and the multi-million dollar bankroll so it is simply a matter of time until they win it back.<\/p>\n<p>\tI n0tice this was in AC so I would assume that the competition from Pennsylvania, Delaware and other neighboring states is really hurting them.
