The votes aren’t quite in yet, but they’re being counted as they come.

Here are the top 10 places in Las Vegas to get a meal under $10, ranked based on the votes that have been placed since voting opened last month. You can vote online or in print until Feb. 3.

1. Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop. A GTC favorite, we eat here during set up.

Capriotti’s has a couple dozen locations in the Las Vegas Valley (find them here). Yelp reviewers recommend the Grilled Italian, Italian Sausage and Cheese Steak, as well as a Capriotti’s creation: The Bobbie.

“If you have never had a “Bobbie” then please try it at least once,” one reviewer wrote. “If you love a Thanksgiving meal then you will really love this one.”

2. Custom Built Pizza

One Yelp reviewer called Custom Built Pizza, on Grand Canyon at Flamingo, a “Subway concept … but for pizza!”

Build your own pizza or try one of the menu options. Reviewers recommend building a pizza with the spicy diavola sauce, and to sign up for a “belly card” to earn rewards.

3. Pasta Fresh

Located in the same shopping center as Custom Built Pizza, locally owned Pasta Fresh gets good reviews on Yelp partly because the pasta is made from scratch.

Reviewers recommend building your own pasta and taking advantage of the lunch special.

“Great deal, $6.99 for choose your own pasta, bread, & soup or salad,” one reviewer wrote. “Definitely try it if you haven’t yet, they have something for everyone.”

4. ZiKiZ. A personal recommendation.

Mediterranean-inspired ZiKiZ, at 1500 N. Green Valley Pkwy. in Henderson, “really gets it,” according to one Yelp reviewer.

“The pick your wrap concept is so brilliantly suited to the kind of Arab comfort food that every college kid in England and Michigan is used to after a night of partying, but the level of choice also makes healthy and hearty completely plausible,” the reviewer wrote.

The house-made hummus and hot sauce are must-tries, according to reviews.

5. Annie’s Kitchen. Just had their ribs last week, it ain’t Memphis dry rub, but it ain’t bad.

The ribs are the pull for Annie’s Kitchen, located at 1212 D Street.

“This is my place to go when I don’t feel like doing it myself,” one reviewer wrote. “The price is right and the food is good.”

6. Anthony’s New York Pizza and Deli

Reviewers say Anthony’s is legitimate New York-style pizza for a good price.

They’re only open during the workweek, but Yelp reviews say the service is fast enough to warrant a lunchtime trip.

“If you work downtown, the trick is to call in your order and pick it up about 10 minutes later,” one reviewer wrote.

(Bonus: Q&A with Anthony’s Pizza owner Anthony Milo)

7. 28GO the Restaurant

28GO, at 4632 S. Maryland Pkwy., offers an Asian fusion menu and considers itself a mix between sophisticated chic and casual dining.

Yelp reviewers suggest trying the pork belly and the bulgogi waffle.

8. In-N-Out Burger. A California standard and probably one of the best burgers around. Still family owned, and they pay the highest wages in the industry, yet have the highest per store gross of any fast food chain.

In-N-Out has a dozen Las Vegas locations (http://www.in-n-out.com/). That makes East coasters really jealous, as one Yelp reviewer points out.

“According to rumors, and I believe this to be true, they apparently sprinkle magic into each burger and all of their fries,” he wrote. “There is nowhere on the planet that you can get a burger this delightful for these prices.”

If you’re looking for variety, In-N-Out isn’t your place, but try ordering “animal style” to get your fries with melted cheese, sauteed onions and spread.

9. Carlito’s Burritos

Try Carlito’s, located at 3345 E. Patrick Lane, for what one Yelp reviewer called the “best New Mexican food outside of New Mexico.”

“It was just like being back home in Santa Fe,” another said.

Reviewers suggest trying the carne adovada enchiladas, green chile stew and sopapillas.

10. Komex Fusion Express

KoMex Fusion Express, located at Decatur and Washington, offers Mexican-Korean fusion food — and it’s local.

Reviewers recommend pretty much anything off the fusion menu, especially the bulgogi nachos.

Replies:

Posted by: TommyC on January 23, 2014, 5:31 pm

Thanks

Posted by: TheUsualSuspect on January 23, 2014, 7:17 pm

Armin, this is quite an extensive report of the eating habits of Pitt Boss.
