\tGULFPORT, Miss. (AP) \u2013 The Mississippi Gaming Commission has approved plans by Rotate Black Casino for a $112 million casino resort named after author Ernest Hemingway on land next to Jones Park and the Gulfport Small Craft Harbor.<\/p>\n
\tThe commission voted Monday in Gulfport.<\/p>\n
\tThe casino is expected to be called Hemingway\u2019s, with its theme based on the life of the author.<\/p>\n
\tWork is expected to begin in April on a 205-room luxury hotel and 35,000-square-foot casino operated by Hemingway Hotel and Resorts.<\/p>\n
\tPlans also call for a 4,000-square-foot swimming pool plus three restaurants and decks overlooking the water.<\/p>\n
\tThe company initially brought a $77 million project before the gaming commission, and was told to increase the size.<\/p>\n
\tIt took three tries to get plans approved.<\/p>\n
\tBeginning in 2014 all future casinos built on the Mississippi Coast must meet larger size specifications after the commission approved new rules earlier this year requiring greater investment and minimum square footage.<\/p>\n
