Most casinos do not allow it. And most casinos do not allow a player to place a pass line bet after the point is already established. I know some casinos do. The last casino I played in that allowed a Put Bet was "Casino Royale" in Las Vegas. They also offer 100x odds. They stopped allowing Put bets about 3 years ago. Hope this helps.

Michael

Posted by: SevenTimesSeven on August 16, 2013, 9:02 pm

But aren’t the odds in the casino’s favor after the point has been made?
The ‘seven’ is the likliest number to roll after a point. Remember on the come out roll to establish a new point the player has a 2 to 1 advantage with 8 ways to roll a 7 or 11 and only 4 ways to toll a 2, 3 or 12. This is a one roll advantage. Assuming a box number is rolled the advantage changes to the advantage of the casino and stay in the casino’s favor for the remainder of the point cycle.

I am sure that some casinos do not allow put bets, but it is hard for me to understand why they won’t since from the moment you put down the put bet, the casino has the advantage. The 2 to 1 advantage on the come out roll has already passed.

If the point is 6 or 8 and I want money on the pass line I simply place the 6 or 8. The same for the 4 and 10 with a $25 buy bet where the $1 vig is paid on wins only. I won’t place the 5 or 9 as the 4% vig is too much.

Hope that helps.

Doc

Posted by: Skinny on August 16, 2013, 10:12 pm

"SevenTimesSeven" wrote: But aren’t the odds in the casino’s favor after the point has been made?
The ‘seven’ is the likliest number to roll after a point. Isn’t that so?

The house advantage on the odds portion of the wager is 0% because they are being paid at true odds. For example, on the 4 or 10 the odds get paid at 2-1. So while the house can expect to win a bet on the 4 or 10, two out of every three times, they must pay 2-1 on the odds wager making it a break even wager for the player.

Of course the house would have a 2-1 advantage on the base bet and that bet is only paid at even money. So that is why the put bet is generally a bad idea.

But if you can take enough in odds to overcome the house advantage on the base bet, a put bet CAN be a better wager than a place bet.

If you can take 100X odds AND can afford it, the put bet is a better bet than a place bet on a number. For example, if you were to place the 6 or 8 for $480 it would pay $560. But if you made a put bet of $5 with $475 in odds on the 6 or 8, it would pay $575. The put bet pays more than a place bet because the odds are paid at true odds but the place bet is paid at less than true odds.

In general you need to get more than 5X odds on a put bet for it to be a better wager than a place bet.

If you are in a casino that allows put bets and has 10X odds or better, figure out how much you are paid for a put bet vs. a place bet to determine which is better. In other words do what I did above and see which gives you a better pay off for the same amount of money.

I believe the craps rules allow a player to bet on the pass line and with odds if he wishes to do so, after the point is already established, for example when he walks up to a table with the…

[9

post-5739","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-craps
["GET
