Well the rooms next to me were talking loud and banging doors until 12:30 am. So when my internal clock woke me up at 4:08, guess what happened?

Sunday morning brings some tales of overnight successes and not so’s.

The previous afternoon the Primers kept rolling during the GTC betting segment, so this morning it was the refreshers turn to do the same.

A lot of good input to everyone as to how to get the most coverage with the least amount of potential pain if the seven comes. Also, it is interesting to see some of the changed throws revert back to old practices while trying to assimilate the betting strategies. Tommy was getting all kinds of help from Dom and Arman as he threw some great numbers and while this was happening his throw was reverting back to old. It took two more stations to get him back on track. I threw a few times and when the seven came I went to the hook and thought back what I had done and the old hand position crept back in slightly. MORE PRACTICE IS NEEDED.

The box number team competition in preparation for the NO Sevens contest took place and our team kept trying to get two finishers. Finally Kendall and Tommy were chosen to represent team "Golden Chippers". Tommy askes Fred if he could give his spot to me and he said yes. Thanks Tommy, BUT I think you would have done well!!

A lot of ooh’s and aahh’s, trash talk, distractions and Timmer wearing out the carpet pacing back and forth as Jennifer from Team Under The Radar was in the lead. Up to the last thrower, a Team Under Radar Alumni, so any way it turned out Timmer was a winner! I went down in flames after four or five throws and Jennifer’s comment that when ever she hoots for a good throw the seven comes next. One die stuck and the 5/2 showed up. And Dom groaned as Timmer finally has a winner!

A lot of good fun and talk continued while class ended. Names exchanged and possibilities of some throwing with other GTC people might be happening across the country.

In past posts, comments have been made that the Memphis and Chicago classes being smaller have a more intimate feel to them as to LV or AC. Having only been to LV for my Primer and first refresher which were good, I will agree that the smaller venue does seem to promote a bit more camaraderie!

To all the instructors a BIG THANK YOU! The changes that have happened since June have in my opinion improved the course immensely. There seemed to be more jokes and fun going on and there seemed to be less tension in the air!

To all the primers and refreshers, refer to your notes and practice, practice, practice. Better yet, Mr. Finesse says Perfect practice makes for a perfect throw. So get your mirrors, your cameras, your notes, your throw sheets and become part of the 10% success story in GTC.

Does it take work and lots of it. You bet. But isn’t it worth it, only you can answer that question!

Hopefully see you at a table sometime soon!

Jim

Replies:

Posted by: Stealthman on April 30, 2013, 4:06 am

One other thing.

I was nice to have all the practice time, either under supervision or waiting for things to start.

It allowed me to work on my SR1 toss.

Goldfinger comes up and asks – I thought you throw righty. The changes in how we discuss betting seems to make it easier to understand why you need to do certain things a certain way. So again a big thank you!
