When I play alone in he casinos without anyone who knows me, I have consisttently good rolls and I make money on myself. As soon a I have a friend with me or someone who I’ve told that I have turned the game of craps in my favor, I have the worst rolls. I often go point seven out or point, number, seven out. My hands sweat, I find it had to do what I do so well at home and when I’m just playing in casinos without anyone who knows me. In a regular game of craps, no matter how many strangers are at a table, nothing fazes me.

All help from GTC instructors is welcomed. All help from ANYONE is welcomed!
DDD

Boxcars Barry responds

I used to let a lot of things bother me but now I just say to myself that it doesn’t matter what I do, my friends still like me. That might sound silly but it got me to relax when I am shooting the dice.

Mr Finesse responds

DDD’

When you are playing alone I am sure you are care free and enjoying yourself. As soon as friends or family join you for a game all you are thinking about is showing them how well this new style of play works and you are becoming one hell of a craps shooter.

In you minds eye all you are thinking about is having a long roll without the 7 showing but unfortunately your minds eye is putting that 7 right on your forehead for everyone to see and then it travels down your are into the dice.

It has happened to all of us, remember this game is 80 percent mental and 20 percent skill if not even higher on the mental percentage, possibly 90 / 10.

Try and relax and have a good time when friends are around, it will help.

Doc Holliday responds

DDD,

I don’t know how long you’ve been a controlled thrower but the jitters are a normal part of the journey. I can remember when I got nervous when I had a $5 line bet and no odds and I was shooting. The first time I shot at the same table with Sharpshooter, you could probably have heard my knees knocking if it weren’t for the casino noise. I still have to be careful how I manage money when playing with others I know because it can be more difficult to go into the zone.

As your knowledge and confidence in your shooting grows you will find you spend a lot more time on the mental aspect of the game. I often challenge myself now when I go to the casino, to rate how quickly I can get to the zone and how well I maintain the zone while shooting. Dr. McCall’s work on the mental aspects of challenges has been very helpful to me.

Like Mr. Finesse said, with friends relax and enjoy yourself. I tell people that may be with me for the first time they should understand, it doesn’t work everytime but hopefully tonight it will (Give yourself a way out ahead of time). Watch your money management so you’re not putting a lot of undue pressure on yourself. I don’t plan on these outings to make a lot of money. Instead it’s just for fun.

Doc Holliday

Dominator responds

Dave,
You have to practice some relaxation techniques. Do your breathing and think about your practice rig when you are at the tables with friends. You don’t have to impress anyone! If you let your practice take over you will do just fine.

Dominator

Replies:

No replies were posted for this topic.

Double Down Dave asks When I practice at home, my SRR is about 1:7.5.
