The roller (hopefully a GTC roller) set for a 7 and boom, he its a 7 and you lose all the come bets offset by the bet that wins on the pass line. When I am the roller and I see a lot of come bets on the table after a point is made, out of courtesy I never set for a 7. To me it seems to be the right thing to do.

This is my $.02 worth but I know some on this board will disagree with me.

Doc

Posted by: ThomasH on March 18, 2013, 12:14 am

When I have the dice I play my game and don’t worry what others at the table are betting. Many casinos wouldn’t even notice since there are so many crazy craps players you would simply be one more crazy player.
The other thing to think about is the the 7 is the easiest number to throw so trying to throw 7 on the come out roll will increase the edge on your line bet which already has an edge on that first throw.
When you are playing with others and they have come bets and you do not, then they should realize that the seven on the come out is what you want to happen so it should be expected that you might try to toss it. The old saying goes "ya bets your money and ya takes your chances". Thinking about their bets is not where your mind should be and if it is then you have a problem with your concentration.
Do you change the way that you bet when others are throwing? I sometimes do. My considerations are how well I know that shooter and what does that shooter usually bet and what sets do they use. Even though the shooter may use only place bets and set for the 7 on comeouts I might still use come bets and simply take my chances on the come out rolls. Remember that you will win the line bet which eases the pain of losing the come bets.
My favorite bet is the come bet so you will see me making come bets a lot and if the hand is extended I will have come bets on every roll.
BTK

Posted by: Diceman on March 20, 2013, 12:19 pm

"ACPA" wrote: Was playing with Mark 3 and afterwards we discusses what set to use if you weren’t using come bets went you are on a come out roll.

I know some people use the CO roll as a free choice and not focus on it, the idea being it can’t hurt you with a seven out and it helps to make you not look like a dice controller.

Other consider it a completely separate segment of your game and therefore try to get winners on that toss.
