This time I wanted to see that I was properly rested after I arrived. I took a nice nap and headed down to the casino. For three days I played and rested. Each session was about half an hour to an hour. It was intense because ninety percent of the time I was alone at the table. It was a great confidence builder. I wasn’t shaking as much and calmed down much quicker. I really focused and had all the time to myself. I had to take a ribbing from a couple of the nay sayers but all in all, it was a fun time. I rolled well and bet smart. I didn’t play too long but listened to my body. I played three casinos and spread it out. At all casinos I came away a winner. I had to adjust my throw to the tables and generally speaking it meant a lower arc and softer touch. I kept all of your voices in the back of my head and it reminded me that I am standing on a lot of your shoulders. I kept my bets low as this was not meant to effect my 401g. In each casino I had a high20,, low thirty throw and they really took notice of the throw and my tipping, not in that order of course. I followed all the rules and they all thanked me for playing and welcomed me back. I was proud of how I locked in and tuned out the distractions. I was also impressed with how drained I was after a session. I am walking a fine line right now in not getting over confident and at the same time just accepting that I am making progress. All in all I came home with several hundred dollars for the 401g. The GTC etiquette cannot be stressed enough. There was never a big deal made of my throw and I welcomed any legitimate comment. I will continue to practice and look forward to the LV refresher in June. I want to thank all of you who were in my ear as I threw the dice. I just let the dice do the talking. They spoke loud and clear this round. I used to never play at an empty table but I remember Dom saying that I’m the one that is going to make the money happen, not the CFrs.
Happy New Year. It is most gratifying to know that the hard work on your part –and yes the instructors as well–is paying off. Always good to know that a student was paying attention in class. I seem to see so many who go back to the old ways. Your post is a great positive lesson. Students and former students pay attention.

Thanks you for posting this. Good tip on playing time and playing to your advantage. I have found that hitting well then moving on BEFORE you tire is a major advantage and will pay dividends for you down the road. I like to get in, get hot then start my exit before it all comes apart due to being tired. On the flip side.. if I get in and things look like craps I get back to the room or go get a coffee and try to retool.
All the best this year in your outings!
😎
The Griz

Posted by: DoughBoy on January 14, 2013, 1:32 am

Thanks for encouragement. Reno was very quiet and going it alone was a challenge. It made it that much sweeter to know that it’s really up to each one of us to bring home the bacon. I’m just learning how to put the whole GTC package together. I will continue to practice and look forward to continuing the journey. Containing my exhuberance has always been a challenge. I will have my own trials when it isn’t so great. But right now, let’em roll.
