Many years ago my mother started a Christmas tradition of getting the whole family together on Christmas eve for a family party. Although we are all married with kids and Mom passed two years ago we have managed to keep the tradition alive. This year my brothers and I were recalling the day trip to AC that we made last year between Christmas and New Years and thought it would be nice to continue that tradition, if one year can be considered a tradition. Plus they wanted to get me on the craps tables. So it was decided we would go on Friday the 28th.

On Friday I got up early, got some breakfast and went to the sun room where my practice rig is set up. 30 min into my practice my brothers, two of them, rang the doorbell. We packed my wheelchair into my brothers BMW stationwagon and the three of us headed for AC. 1.5 hrs later we arrived in AC, the place was dead. We decided to visit the new place at the north end of the boardwalk. It was almost empty. Following a quick tour and a not so quick visit, took my one brother forever, to the rest rooms we headed for the craps tables. I found SL1 open at a $10 table and had the dice in short order. My shot looked ok to me but it was not performing well. Had to modify my throw to adapt to table conditions and although my seven outs were on axis sevens I couldn’t get anything going. After three dismal hands with the dice one of my brothers and I shuffled over to the Pai Gow tables. I was able to recover half of the $200 I lost at the craps table. We played Pai Gow for a few hours then went back to the craps area loking for brother number three. He had remained at the tables and had pulled back close to even. We decided to eat lunch at a place inside the casino called Whishey’s. The food was very good if a bit pricy. Next we headed for one of my favorite places to play in AC. We found a $5 table with my spot open. I had the dice three times. Rolls of 12,10,15 not very good but the 15 roll hand hit 5 points along with a few come bets. In retrospect getting up early and practicing for 30 min turned out to be a bad idea because by now my legs were dead. Lots of short rolls but the good news was that I went home down $10 for the trip and all my seven outs were on axis sevens. During the session at the second place not one roll included a 1 or 6 useing the hardway set with the threes up fives facing me. This set seems to furnish lots of box numbers though not always ones I am on<G>. Not a winning trip but lots of fun with my brothers.

Replies:

Posted by: Scan on January 2, 2013, 11:04 pm

Sound like fun. Lots of people driving home from there would love to only be down ten bucks.
I like the new place you went to because it is smoke free. Great experienced polite dealers. No slobs. They appreciate and acknowledge every tip.

Lots of tables. One is always free of players.

They are having problems due to serious mismanagement and a misread of the AC market. A bunch of new folks have been brought on board and they are trying to right the ship. For the sake of the employees I hope they can get it together

I am part of a large family, oldest of 10 boys.
