\nI have recently been watching some documentaries on Netflix about religion one was called "The God who was not there". Another was Bill Mahr’s examination of different religions. There are a few more on there also.Very interesting stuff. It really makes a person wonder if it is all just man made superstition.<\/p>\n

Big question that — is there really a God? Which one would it be? Zeus, Apollo, Athena, Yahweh, Baal, Shiva, Obama (just threw that one in). Is our ignorance of the universe enough to make the theory of God palatable? "Well, something can’t come from nothing." Well, maybe it can because there is no "nothing"; there is only something. <\/p>\n

\tWe always buy into the idea that there actually was a "before" the universe because everything we see on Earth has a before. We then paint the entire space-time-scape with the idea that "before" must have existed and that "before" was nothing. Of course, we then speculate that God existed in the "before"…kind of circular if you ask me.<\/p>\n

\tThe big philosophical question has always been "why is there something rather than nothing?" To me the question, while sounding profound, is meaningless. Because there is something the idea of "nothing" is (ahum) nothing. "Nothing" never existed…strange sentence but it might be the truest sentence. There is and never has been "nothing." "Nothing" certainly is a lot to think about isn’t it?<\/p>\n

\tNow read this and see that maybe we are starting to create new thngs too but of course they aren’t coming from "nothing" just something else:<\/p>\n

So, if nothing ever existed where did the something that always existed come from? That seems to be more of a statement in favor of some kind of Supreme Being as opposed to contradicting ones existence.<\/p>\n

\tIt implies something that always was. Is that not one of the characteristics of God by whatever name you choose to call it? Although, I would not pick one of the names you listed.<\/p>\n

Skinny, if God is real and we use your definition then there never was a "nothing" from which everything came. If God was, "nothing" wasn’t. If God in the traditional sense <\/em> never existed the universe still exists. You can use any word you like to describe what is but "nothing" never existed. Existence is; "nothing" isn’t. There is somethng rather than nothing because there never was a nothing.<\/p>\n

\tNow as to a personal<\/em> God; similar to the Catholic, Jewish, Muslim (etc.) God who has a relationship with you; who communicates to you through His bible or other books, his rabbis, priests, or prophets, gives laws and so forth… well, now, that one is not as easy a discussion.<\/p>\n

\tDoes the personal <\/em> God actually exist? <\/p>\n

\tWish I could give the definitive answer on that. But I have to leave to go swimming and, really, I have no idea.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

There may or may not be a God. I am not sure. However. I am pretty sure the RELIGIONS are all just made up. A bunch if myths, fantasies, and legends mixed with superstition and a desire to control humans.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
