\tIn the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where a<\/p>\n

\t family member lay gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking<\/p>\n

\t tired and somber.<\/p>\n

\t ‘I’m afraid I’m the bearer of bad news,’ he said as he surveyed the<\/p>\n

\t worried faces. ‘The only hope left for your loved one at this time is<\/p>\n

\t a brain transplant. It’s an experimental procedure, very risky, but it<\/p>\n

\t is the only hope.<\/p>\n

\t Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the<\/p>\n

\t BRAIN.’<\/p>\n

\t The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news.<\/p>\n

\tAfter a time, someone asked, ‘How much will a brain cost?’<\/p>\n

\t The doctor quickly responded, ‘$5,000 for a Democrat’s brain; $200 for<\/p>\n

\t a Republican’s brain.’<\/p>\n

\t The moment turned awkward. Some of the Democrats actually had to ‘try’<\/p>\n

\tto not smile, avoiding eye contact with the Republicans. A man unable<\/p>\n

\t to control his curiosity, finally blurted out the question everyone<\/p>\n

\t wanted to ask, ‘Why is the Democrats brain so much more than a<\/p>\n

\t Republicans brain?’<\/p>\n

\tThe doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the<\/p>\n

\t entire group, ‘It’s just standard pricing procedure.<\/p>\n

\t We have to price the Republicans’ brains a lot lower because they’re
\n\t used."<\/p>\n
