I am sure the length
of the table and its bounce has a lot to do with the results. I dont know that i will ever
be able to play on a real bouncy table.

But for me i was not as concerned with the results as much as i was with the quality
of the throw. Did the throw look ok, did they land where i wanted them to, do they scatter or
go to the back wall. I felt if the throw was controlled enough i could adjust to the table some.

My last trip solved that for me.. I was terrible on several tables, as far as being consistant was
concerned, i was at the point that i was not going to throw anymore that trip. But the
last night i wanted to get on a 14′ table i new was much lower, and had not been able to.

Well when i got on my throw was right there, it was there two sessions the next day. What
happened as table height. I was able to get over my throw, much like a pool shooter is right
over their shot so the line of sight is down the cue to the ball to the target. When i am
over my shot my arm goes straight, decent follow throw to my target and dice go to
the back wall most times.
To test it again i went back to my local high 16′ table which is very hard for me. I got over the
table as much as possible, and my line of sight was ok, not perfect, but ok and i tripled
my buy in. Few days later i also did ok. When i relax and dont get over the table, it is not
good.

If any of the new folks are having trouble, it may also be the same for you. be able to see
your arm follow its path to your target.

gman

Replies:

Posted by: getagrip on August 3, 2012, 5:59 pm

Gman,

Important observation and thought on your part so thanks for putting this out. 😎

I have a REAL tendency to go inside on my backswing. I have noticed through practice this same thing you are talking about. If my dice are started even two inches farther away from my body than normal then my line of sight is off and I over compensate by bringing my backswing inside. I am now very careful about my set up each and every time. I thought I was always being careful but I did realize that it was not exactly the same every time so not reproducible between throws and inconsistency did come in to play. With this change and a shorter backswing I almost have the inside problem fixed—or at least most of the time.

Just a thought. You might want to try standing on a throwing platform at some tables if the rail is too high. I would agree that it is better just to play on the tables you feel comfortable on but sometimes if we go to a small venue then the choices are to not play at all or adjust to the table if you are able to do that and not hurt your throw.

For awhile now i have been trying to figure out why i am so inconsistant.
