We encourage that you only track the number of throws using chips if your interested in the metric of a thrower at the table. Using a pen and paper and writing the shooters results (throw by throw) in live play will shift attention toward you and your teammates. Doc and Rose have a great method (using chips) and I will let him chime in on this thread. At home practicing, should be the only place where you track your throws and check your own edge. Looking at someone’s rack does not tell the whole story and unless you are on most of the control thrower’s rolls you should bet on them just like you would a random roller (Dom stressed this in class). And remember, the only throw you can rely on is your own, Practice…Practice…Practice…

Posted by: MichaelB on February 26, 2020, 10:35 pm

"CliffM1" wrote: Looking for some input on if there is a preferred GTC method of tracking throws and score hits at the table.
One of the instructors mentioned he can walk up to a table during a throw and look at a GTC players rack and see what is going on.
How does everyone track the throws?
Also, I was reading the big skinny betting and do we have a way to track score hits also?

Thanks

i do my five count with $1 chips laid flat to the left of my bankroll in the rack. after that i use a $25 chip laid flat to the right of my bankroll to represent hits.

Posted by: Dr Crapology on February 27, 2020, 1:10 am

Here is how Rose and Doc count the number throws as we proceed through as well as tracking tracking the five count for a random roller.

To count our throws–or that of a known GTC player– here is what we do. We hold one white throw in our non throwing hand, throw the dice and place the white chip in a special spot in the chip rail. We do this on each and every roll. Once the shooter has his 5th roll, we replace the 5 white chips with a red chip–the same routine until we get to 10 rolls, take down the new five white chips, and replace with a second red chip–until we go to a green $25 chip. I think you get the idea.

As to 5 counting a random roller after he makes the 5 count we stop counting and make out one bet.

Doc

Posted by: CliffM1 on February 27, 2020, 4:17 am

Doc

Thanks for the info.

If you wouldn’t mind giving me a little advice. I went to the casino for the first time since returning from Vegas and had a great night.
the first throw was 33 and the second was 24. I tripled my buy in and left. I even do it for random shooters in case they want to know how many throws they had.

Now for the 5-count and beyond:
What I like to do is my chips are in rack close to me. My count of throws is either to the right of that (buy-in to left) or in rack next to me if not super-busy table.
I use the top rack as positional counting. So a 4 rolled is $1 chip far left of front tray (laid flat on side) and 10 is far right. 6 and 8 in middle etc. Non box throws (craps/11) I place same way but next to my buyin where I use for throw count. Once the 5 count is reached and I place whatever bets I want, I move a $5 chip to my throw count area. I continue the top rack to help track what numbers the shooter is hitting most. This helps like when I bet 6 & 8 and hit a few times and want to place another number as a bet. I look at my top rack and it helps me decide what number I want to bet next.

I will say it so nice when you get a green chip in your throw count area. You should be smiling nicely by then unless you’re betting strategy is faulty 😈

Hank

Looking for some input on if there is a preferred GTC method of tracking throws and score hits at the table.
