It has been a difficult year getting on a craps table this year but I found on open with the dealers waiting for shooters.
This table is always full with regulars. I told my wife and Goddess I was going to walk down to the cage and break a bill for tip money. Wouldn’t you know I see this table open. The time may be important. It was two in the afternoon.
The locals were still at work. Or recovering from lunch. I don’t know. I have not thrown dice in the past year or practiced at the house because we had a elderly family member move in after a fall and move in with us with all her stuff and medical appointments. You know how it swings.
The craps tables have been sketchy since covid. The last good game I had was in Vegas two years ago at the place Elvis performed.
It was a hot day on this trip and the humidity in the casino made the dice stick to my fingers. It was a ten dollar table and I started with one hundred buy in. I used COME bets and bought in for another hundred. To deal with the sticky humidity I slid my fingers to the top of the dice. This worked just fine. Players started showing up at the table. I was stick left next to the stick. Two players on the end stick right and one guy stick right. One guy was on my left with two on the left end.
I felt like I should return to my wife with the tip money but I could not leave. Three of us were shooters and the rest didn’t want the dice and passed them on. I could not believe it. I couldn’t leave in this situation. How often does this come up.
I really enjoyed my game. It always feels good to pull those COME bets down. You can lose your shirt with COME bets but when your hot your hot. I played for an hour and one half and bet only on a couple of the shooters. One guy was always good for shooting 5″s. The other guy tens.
My betting was cautious having just arrived to the casino. But now I know that early afternoon is game time for me. I hope.
I doubled my money and found a playable table. And I can still throw the dice. I’m pleased.

Cotton, it’s great that you found your time of day, when your position is open. In Las Vegas, once you make a circuit, you can easily identify where and when to find good tables with open positions. However, the strip tables are almost all $25 minimum, requiring at least a $1,000 buy-in. There is one exception. BTW, the Casino Royale is now all slots, zero tables (I think it’s ok to mention the casino in this case).
Among the Downtown casinos, I can always find a $10 table open. If you want to see a marvel, the casino that will count your throws for you (so nice) at the table up front now has a true aircraft carrier of a table in the back. It’s not for me!
There is also a 6′ table, but I forget where. It’s more of a curiosity. But it has a sofa chair for each table position. Now, if cigars were permitted, I’d live at that table!
Speaking of cigars (I’ll name this casino, just about its cigar lounge), the Bellagio had a very nice, raised area that extended out onto the casino floor. My sons and I sat in their very comfy chairs, each of us with a nice cigar and preferred drink – with a clear view of the tables from 50′. What a great place to take a break and keep an eye out for friends.
BTW DOM, I am growing a beard to hide my turkey neck. So, next time we are together, I’ll make you look like a spring chicken!

Ten dollar tables are rare preacher.
I know the raised area you are speaking about by the craps tables. It is one of the few spots in that large B resort to sit down by the table games. I always make time for craps and lunch at Jerrys Nugget. My wife and I usually spend four hours there. Late morning or early afternoon is beat. Table opens at 10AM. West Gate is always good also. I usually visit eight casinos when in Vegas. I will leave immediately if my table ins not open such as Treasure Island.
Nice disguise with the beard. I ordered a pair of glasses with a mustache and big nose attached.
