Craps

Returned to local casino I have avoided for five years.

Spread the love

I swore I never would never visit again but I had to see what was happening at my local casino.

There is only one table and it is sixteen feet.  Ten people playing. All afraid of the bounce. They practically roll the dice all the way down. Only one dice seems to hit the wall or come close to it. There  was only one guy that was shooting (rolling) good. I was told everyone was playing the Don’t earlier and doing better at that.

I am down by the hook. My favorite spot for sixteen fosters. I begin to visualize fly fishing and have a conversation with Dom and the boys in my head.

My name is Cotton Lob. So when I get the dice I lob the dice down with no back spin. The dice land just before the wall close to the corner line. They bounce up under the rail and the rail sends them back down.  And they die on the spot. Point established. I follow with a yo, eight, nine, which is the point.

I repeat on the second point.  The third time my lob is off to the left a little and one of the dice bounces up onto the belly of some dumb ass leaning over the rail to watch the dice land. That one rolls back onto the table making a 7 out.  I give the guy a look.

This is the casino where it all started for Cotton Lob. I thought all was lost with the poor management.  I thought I would never return.  But this is the place I played at that night to win enough money so I could take the Golden Touch class in Las Vegas.  And then went on to win enough in Vegas after class to return the following month with my wife. LOL

The ATM is open.       Enjoy the story. It is what keeps us going.

I thought I had it bad playing on a 14 foot table . Also I can choose to play on a 12 foot if I go after 7 on a fri. or Sat night if not full . Could try other casinos near by . I feel much better with what I have near by now .

Good Rolling.

Last week at a casino in Downtown Las Vegas, I saw a 16′ table (aircraft carrier, since I would need a Harpoon Missile in order to hit the back wall). It was in the back of the casino, named after a street. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t that put SR1 and SL1 at 9 1/2′ from the back wall? That would be a challenge.

At home, I have started practicing with my GTC Throwing Station 9′ from the Receiving Station. That’s so I will be used to throwing from SR2 on a 12′ table and SR1 on a 14′ table. But I just don’t know about 16′ table.

Next time I’m back at Downtown Las Vegas, I’ll ask if I would be allowed to bring my M120 breach loaded mortar to assist.

@preacher Yes, My practice rig is setup so I can move back fourteen feet only limited by the length of my room. Dominator has seen pictures of my rig.  I also throw into a card board paint bucket for fun.

I have practiced like like from the beginning because my local casino where I began my dice career  was first come first serve so I had to learn how to shoot all positions. And I really want to throw the dice.

I can throw left and right handed. The short tables mess with my head but I have a found memory of post Golden Touch class throwing on a shorty with back spin between two “goal post ” some guys had set up in chips in the landing zone while in Connecticut. Just kept rolling sixes.

I waited all night for that air craft carrier in Vegas back in 2019 you speak of for the crowd to disperse. Almost won a free jacket. Had to settle for the money. I was betting low at the time but it was a winning night for all that waiting around.

@preacher  That mortar picture is outstanding. Is that your son?   My father-in-law was an artillery  officer in Nam. Two tours. la Drang Valley all that jazz. He is full of motor shell fragments from an attack.  He still volunteers at the hospital at a young 82.  cheers

@cotton-lob To be clear, the casino I referred to in Downtown Las Vegas has two (2) craps tables. One has the throw counter. The 2nd table in the back is the aircraft carrier – but since I didn’t get up close to it, might also have a digital throw counter.

Neither of my sons in Afghanistan operated mortars. They were both up close and personal. One was injured when his vehicle was hit by an IED. He’s fine, now. My other son fared better and still serves.

The picture was one I grabbed off a web page. It doesn’t sound like you need that level of assistance to reach the back wall. But I’m sure it is a challenge. Let me know when you’re next in Vegas and I’ll go with you to check out the 16 footer Downtown.

Actually Preacher it would be between 8.5 – 9 feet as far as the distance

@preacher With the new food court renovation I will see what happened to the game locations. I will let you know when I am planning on Visiting Vegas again. It will be after summer.
