GTC ten days straight

Spread the love

Just got back from a ten day cruise. Before leaving, I knew that this ship had a casino with a 12 foot table. I would be able to play on that table for ten days. You are allowed to play when the ship is in international waters, not when in port.

Knowing this, I had to really figure out ahead of time what my strategy would be and how to manage my money. I have a healthy 401g and I play the “Big Skinny”. Now, that being said, I have never played for ten days straight. I usually play a max of three to four days. In addition, there is only one table. It may,or may not be playable. If it was not playable, it would mean ten days without playing (no joke).

,     I trust my shot now. Thanks to constant tweaking from Doc and Rose, I know my edge and I’m ready to do battle. I was ready to do battle. I was going to play the math that Dom and Skinny and the rest of my fellow instructors have been preaching to me for the last ten years.(Check out the archives for Skinny’s post on how to make money on the 10-20 roll).

This was not only my journey, but a journey that was built on the shoulders of all the guys and gals that have been walking the GTC journey and teaching it.

There were only random rollers on the ship. All place bettors. They would wait until a point was established and then go all the way across. They would get a couple of hits, each time up a unit until the seven showed. Boom!, everything down. Next shooter. Not one of them had a winning trip. They were all hoping for the big roll. The big roll never came for them.

I was playing on a 10 dollar table with 3,4,5x odds. I played a quarter on myself with full odds. I even played one winning session with fifty and full odds. Only come betting. I five counted most unless it was the player before me. That was this casinos rules. I bet a ten dollar come bet with double odds on all the other shooters after the five count. Saved a ton of money.

Now, I heard about a lot of great rolls that I missed when I wasn’t at the table. I didn’t experience anything beyond twenty rolls myself from the rest.

It was a grind. I was there to grind it out. Not gamble, but there to win. I wanted to “throw the math back in their face” as Dom would say. I did just that.

I got on a roll the first day. I was fifty on the pass line, full odds. It was not a monster but netted a few thousand. I had a second roll in the thirties on day eight that was in the thirties. Lots of double dipping (hit the four with a three hundred dollar buy and a quarter come with full odds. Lots of repeaters.

I was the only player at the table. I was in the zone. Didn’t say a word, just pounding out the numbers. Up to this point, I had a lot of ups and downs. That’s the grinding part of the story. I had plenty of ammo when the long roll (low thirties, but lots of repeaters) showed up. 2k buy-in , 8.6k cash out. The Big Skinny , exactly. Double dipping to high heaven. LOL.

Now, the real proof is the answer to the question, “Did you bring anything home, or did you give it all back?” After ten days of no nonsense advantage play, TEN DAYS!!! I brought home seven large and very a big smile. I do have a lot of people to thank that have encouraged and supported me in this journey. The math doesn’t lie, trust your shot, winning sure is a lot of fun. Dom, you can only lead a horse……

It is a very aggressive way to lay using come bets

What a fantastic experience. Congrats. I was so enlightened after thirty minutes with Dr Crapolgy. Better understanding my grip was like sliding a key into the lock and opening the door.

@cotton-lob I agree. We never know which key it is until It’s laid in our lap. I have been working on this a long time and sometimes get very discouraged . Suddenly, I have something pointed out at the right time and I get it. It may be something that was said to me on several occasions, but never sunk in. You need those extra eyes. It has really been a team effort.

Doughboy, really did enjoy the post you made concerning your 10 day cruise. You really outlined two most important principles—

  1. The throw to include the basic set (hard way), finger placement, short back swing, and an easy forward swing with the dice gently rolling off the tips of the fingers.
  2. With a class or 2 under your belt, along with some practice, a modest player advantage of 3% or more can be easily achieved.
  3. But we also need to reduce any house advantage as much as possible as you illustrated.

So, for every roll of the dice by a known controlled shooter we have the long-term advantage.   Will we win every single time we have the dice?—of course not.  After all the casino does lose from time to time.

We will also need to develop a betting strategy to reduce the casino advantage even more. The only bets we really want to consider are the pass line/come bet with odds, as we can lower the house edge substantially.

Pass line and come betting which have the same house edge of 1.4%. Let’s assume a $10 base bet and 3,4,5. odds.

The base bet of $10 has a house edge of 1.4% or $.14 in dollars regardless of box number rolled.

If we add odds–as we all know–the odds bet has a zero house edge since odds are an even money bet. Adding these odds to each number brings the house edge down to less than 1/3 of 1% of the $.14—pretty near no house edge but just a little none the less.
Depending on the box number thrown with 3,4,5 odds, we now have total wagers of $40 (4 and 10), $50 (5 and 9), $60 (6 and 8).

Again, we emphasize house edge of 1.4% only on the base bet since odds reduces the total house advantage to 1/3 of 1%.

With the very conservative 3% advantage we have over the casino with our controlled throw, we now have a conservative net advantage over the casino a little under 3% over the house.

Place betting compared to pass line/come betting with odds

6 and 8 place bet— our total bet is $60 and the casino has an advantage of 1.5% or about the same as the 1.4% on the come/pass line bet. HOWEVER—the 1.5%is on the entire $60 that in dollars is $.90. Considerably higher than the pass line come bet with odds.

5 and 9 place bet. The house vig on these two numbers is 4%. As above, the 4% is on the entire wager of $50.00 That’s a house advantage in dollars of $2.00.  Much higher than a pass line/come bet.

The 4 and 10 place bet the house advantage can be all over the place. To place the 4 and 10 carries a basic 5% house edge.  However most any casino will allow you to “buy” the 4 and or 10 for $1 for a $25 wager.  To simplify the math I will use a $50 bet so that the house vig will be $2.  This percentage is a 4% house vig.  This vig can be paid on wins only or paid up front when the buy bet is made, depending on the particular casino’s rules.

Bottom line, the House advantage for place bets/buy bets is much higher than the pass line/come bets with odds.  I know some of these amounts of dollars don’t seem like much but the casinos build these multi million dollars on these small edges.

I know some of you will say but with pass line/come betting you have to hit a number twice to make a payday and this is a true statement; however, in the long-range scheme of things this is a very small problem.  The small edges on the pass line/coms bets and their odds more than offset this argument.

We haven’t even discussed the five-count when we either don’t have a bet on a random roller or one small bet.  This saves us a ton of money in the long run.

With the advantage we have with our developed controlled throw and reducing the house edge to a bare minimum with every throw that we make, we have a long run advantage over the casino and have put more of their money in our chip rail.

At the same time, we save a ton of money with reduced action on random rollers.

All of this information and more is what’s taught in the Golden Touch classes.

Will we occasionally have a losing session??  Certainly, but they will be fewer and far between.

As Doughboy mentions in his above post to the GTC web site   It is a grind and perhaps slow but he was kicking butt!

But look at the attached video we received from Doughboy!  Now that’s what the throw should look like after all that practicing and hard work!!  Congrats Doughboy (one of the GTC Instructors)!!

Look at those hard way numbers

Well Doc, both you and Alligator Rose did a hell of a coaching job over the years. Thanks to GTC and your generosity (viewing and critiquing my many throws, I have confidence in the edge that I now have. That said, I have to still have the discipline with come betting, to play into that edge. As Dom has preached nonstop, it’s all about the math, The math doesn’t lie. I take all of this to heart and bring it with me each time I go to do battle. I am certainly not one of those that picked it up right away, but I will shoot with anyone today. Thanks for the years of encouragement and support. Doughboy
