Reading Cotton Lob’s thread reminded me of this part of my new book:
Question: I have heard you say that you give each table you walk up to “The movie test.” What exactly do you mean by that?
Answer: So, it is a quite evening and you have finished eating and practicing your craps throw. You now what to settle in your easy chair and turn on the TV, but you have nothing saved on your DVR that you want to watch so you take your remote out and start to flip through the channels. You stop at one station and look at the show for a few minutes and decide to move on and you start flipping again till you finally land on the movie “Casino” which you have seen before, and you love. That is the movie test.
When you go up to a table and buy in, give that table the movie test. Have you seen this movie before in the sense of good things like dealers that seem friendly, the dice are moving quickly, the players seem to know what they are doing. Or is this a movie that you hate. A crowed table, bad dealers and players. If so cash out and move on to another table.
Think about it readers. We have all been at a table that we should have walked away from for one reason or the other. Don’t wait too long to do that – give all tables “The movie test.”

WOW!!! What a powerful way to decide what craps table you will: 1. play or 2 Walk away. Guess all of us do this sometimes without knowing it but mostly see a spot, buy in, and immediately begin to play. The gambler comes out in us and we want to play.
Remember we are advantage players and the one thing we don’t want to do is buy in without making sure we have an advantage situation.

Love the analogy Dom. Can’t wait to get a copy of the book. My last trip I ran into just such a situation and knew right away that I was in the right place. I knew that I owned the table. Thanks. Can’t wait for Vegas and a great class.

I know exactly what you mean. I was in Downtown LV in one of my favorite spots .. on a table I really enjoy 12′ Table conditions PERFECT… Players not so much had a couple players arguing with dealers. 1 player making every PROP bet possible multiple hops etc. Then arguing after every toss he was not paid correctly .. I was hoping the guy would go broke with all those prop bets but he kept digging out 100’s. Slowed the game to a crawl.. and another player was about to put a tuneup on him. I cashed out and moved on.. Told the dealers you guys are getting paid to put up with his BS I’m not I’ll be back later when conditions are better.. The great thing about Downtown is everything is just a short walk away. I didn’t stay for the movie “FIGHT CLUB”

I am getting a final copy printed with 2 CD’s attached (I will 3 videos included in this book)
I will look at the quality and begin to print. For you if there is a delay, I will get the book emailed to yo with a download of the cd’s. I am going to be able to download anyway so not a problem
