Las Vegas Sands Corp. {LVS) is the biggest gambling operator in the world and owner of some of the most iconic casinos in America, including the Palazzo and Venetian Casinos. Why is LVS selling? The answer provides a good view of “stuck in the mud”. Note: Full article at www.casinousa.com

“Sands Corp. has taken a massive hit to its finances in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. While most of the big casino operators have online gambling ventures, Sands Corp. does not have an online gambling presence due to the stance of its founder and chairman Sheldon Adelson.

The 87 year old billionaire has been the biggest advocate against online gambling and has used his own funds to finance the ‘Coalition To Stop Internet Gambling’. Since Sands Corp. had no online gambling interests, they were unable to offset any of their losses through online gambling revenue.”

Ironically, if MGM buys the Venetian and Palazzo, MGM will probably make the purchase from their online casino revenue.

Now there is the advent of slot player YouTube channels. Note: I mention specific casinos by name, but this only regards slot machines. Restriction on use of casino names still applies, particularly regarding craps and table games.

The hosts record their time at the slot machines, sometimes live! My two favorite channels are “Brian Christopher Slots” and “Slot Lady“. When I started watching 3 years ago before I retired, they had a few thousand subscribers and had to keep an eye on casino security to avoid being caught and shown the door.

Now, Slot Lady has 173,000 subscribers, and Brian Christopher has 333,000 subscribers. They both often have 2M+ views of their videos. And, they only go to casinos that have been smart enough to change their security policy to allow open video recording, any hour of the day, all in the midst of all the other slot players. After all, its free targeted advertising for the casino.

The Cosmopolitan was the first to get smart. The quality of the video recording immediately improved. Once the hosts, and growing number of more YouTube channels for slot playing, started live streaming, the casino upgraded the wifi and internet speed and quality!

It wasn’t long before more casinos wised up and opened their floors to video recording. Of course, the recording has to respect the privacy of the patrons and professional etiquette.

Now, the Las Vegas downtown casinos have gotten into the act. The Casino News (Casino USA) lead article is: “El Cortez Casino Turns To A YouTuber To Bring In Foot Traffic“, about Slot Lady’s YouTube channel.
