Craps

Practice Night

Spread the love

Threw the dice for a quick practice the other night.  First toss was a four. Second toss was a ten. Ok. Good numbers for this dice set. Third toss results in a seven. Hmm. Too much back spin? Finger grip?  Was the landing on spot before the wall?

Fourth  toss results in another seven. Fifth toss seven. Ok I am thinking. At least I’m being consistent now. Thinking back to what Dr. Crapology showed me about my finger grip. Made adjustment and cut the back spin. ( If I was in the Casino and had that one last COME BET to bring down.)

Rolled again with a four. Rolled one more time with a hard ten showing. Ah – felt good. Went back to the television.

Lob, glad Rose and I could be of help to you.  It is always best to check on the grip as taught in the class.  Good self critique.

We have a lot of students say something like “I am hitting a lot of 6’s and 8’s so will use the 3V set” or “I am hitting a lot of 4’s and 10’s so I will use the 2V set.”  If you use the hard way set you will hit plenty of the above numbers if your grip is correct.  I know when we are on we usually hit a lot of 6’s and 8’s and know we are on.  After the dreaded 7 these two numbers have the most combinations–28% of the total 36 possible combinations..

Great post.  Look forward to seeing you in the future when this pandemic is over.

Take care and be save.

Remember that in all this practice that you might take 3 steps backwards and then BOOM – 10 steps forward. In the beginning, please don’t concentrate on the numbers. instead concentrate on if the dice look good in the air and are landing together

@dominator I know what you are talking about Dom. I remember standing at the end of the table when the instructors gave us students a demonstration by each throwing the dice. My eyes were locked on those dice coming at me in perfect alignment with that slight rotation. I remember that like it was yesterday.  I recall visiting the Big Indian the Spring after attending the Vegas Class and doing just that. I impressed myself and everyone else at the table. The dealer blurted out “we got a shooter at the table”.  Never had so much fun.

@dr-crapology   Doc and Rose, The class is all brick and mortar until we fine – tweak our game. It wasn’t until the last hours of the last day of class until  I had the ahah moment. It then takes hundreds upon hundreds of thoughtful dice throws to set it in stone.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one this happens to.  I did a 20 toss last night and out came the 7.  AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!  Took a break, came back, and it was 5 2 then 6 1.  Very same thing happened today during practice.  But, even though I had purchased the throwing and receiving stations, I had never gotten to 20 rolls before taking the class.  And @dominator is 100% correct about the 3 steps backwards and then BOOM totally out of nowhere.
