I really had a great time this past GTC weekend. I met a lot of folks that I’d been chatting with here and on FB, and made some new friends.
First, the facility that the class has moved to in Vegas is top notch. it’s open and has plenty of room, inside and out, for everything GTC needs to do. The folks who run it are phenomenal as well. This is the caliber of staff they have: I finished eating lunch, which was a boxed lunch made by the chef, stuffed with fresh salad, sandwich, dessert, chips, etc. I chose a Turkey Club. It was absolutely delicious! I told Vivian, the woman holding it all together for the facility, that it was the second best Turkey Club that I’d ever had, the first only being a massive one at Gallagher’s at Newark airport that I used to get. I had gone back inside when she grabbed me to talk to the chef. I told him what I’d told her, and he said: “Thank you very much! I was actually a chef at Gallagher’s!!!” Too funny! It’s obvious why the sandwich was so good!
Second, the class was outstanding. A large number of Primers and a good number of Refreshers were present and the classroom was large enough to distance ourselves and still be comfortable. I even got the very friend of mine who turned me onto Craps about 15 years ago to come for a Primer. @DiceDiver loved it! He can comment further. Some lively discussion and some great time at the instructor tables made for what I would call a very successful return to Class!
Third, the play was great. Yes there are some venues with Plexi, some playable, some not. I preferred the early morning play where I stayed and down the strip a hair. I had some good hands, some not so good, but I was also on some great hands by others, including a 4 stick change hand that put me comfortably ahead for the trip and it stayed that way. I know some folks were in for craps tournaments, but those I’ve heard from did not get beyond Round 1. Hopefully we’ll hear of someone who made it further.
Stay well, all!
