3x 4x 5x Odds Game

Spread the love

What are the benefits of this game to us as dice controllers? Does it give a better edge to the casino as far as payouts. As a come bettor is it a better game for us to play?

Great question and I thank you!

The higher the odds that a casino gives – like 10X or more odds, the better for the player.

The 3/4/5 odds game was developed by Harrahs casino. It was developed to make it easier on the dealers to make payouts. If a player takes max odds on ANY number the pay out is the same. $10 come with max odds on any number will pay $70.

So, for the player that SHOULD be  a come bettor, the more odds the casino offers the better for the player. 3/4/5 odds game is just designed to make it easier for payouts

With all of the GTC instruction–grip, throw and betting–you are giving the casino a run for their money.  Remember with an SRR (sevens to Rolls Ratio) of 7.23 or better you now have the advantage.  And the betting can also increase your advantage–NOT THE CASINO’s!!

We like to look at our betting advantage in terms of dollars not percentage.  For examples we will compare pass line and come bets against place betting.  As you may notice at a craps table many random rollers don’t bet the pass line and come bet, but after a point is established they will bet all of the box numbers across, including the point.

As examples let’s compare place betting to pass line and come betting on the inside numbers 5,6,8,9 but the concept discussed below is true on the 4 and 10 as well.

Using pass line and come betting the house edge on all box numbers is 1.4% in favor of the casino on the base bet with no edge on the odds–on a $10 base bet that’s 14 cents.  But by taking odds you increase your bet with no increase in the $.14.    Let’s say you make a $10 bet with 5 times odds ($50) you have a total bet of $60. As mentioned above the house edge is still only $.14 on the entire $60 bet.  You have spread the $.14 house advantage over the entire $60 bet to well under 1/2 of 1% on the total bet.  A bet any well practiced GTC player can easily over come in the long run.  This holds true for all the box numbers 4,5,6,8,9,10.

Now let’s look at placing the 6 and 8.  The percentage in favor of the house is 1,5%.  This appears to be about the same as the 1.4% percentage as pass line / come betting.  BUT WRONG.  The 1.5% is on the entire bet of $60.  In dollars, 1.5% is applied to the entire $60 bet.  So 1.5% times $60 is 90 cents–a much larger amount.  This again may seen not much, but remember these higher dollar amounts are how the casinos build multi million dollar casinos.

A similar comparison can be made for placing the 5 and 9.  The house advantage on these 2 numbers is 4% and again on the entire $60 for a $2.40 advantage to the house.  But the pass line and come bets on the 5 and 9, the house house advantage is still only $.14 a super big decrease in the house advantage.

Rose and Doc have practiced both ways of betting at home and over time the Pass Line/Come betting beats place betting.

We know that other schools teach, that with pass line and come betting you have to hit a number twice to win. While with place betting you only have to hit a number once for a payday.  While this is a true statement, a quick 7 out with six place bets from the get go will put you in a hole that may well be hard to over come.  Example, a point seven out with 6 bets on the table put you down 6 bets.  Now the next shooter sets his point and you again place all six box numbers you now have over come 12 bets in order to just break even.

Just one person’s analysis of the best way to play the game.  Look forward to other comments on this board.

@dominator. So in a 3/4/5/ game it prevents us from making more money per roll versus 10x odds game. It will take us longer in the 3/4/5 game to get to the same winning result as in the higher odds game. Does the 3/4/5 game cut into the tables/casinos  bottom line (not that we care) by not offering the higher odds? I also understand that it makes it easier for the dealers (Mostly the ones that can’t count) when paying out. The 3/4/5 game is in the casinos where I play in AC now. Those same casinos didn’t have that last year & up into January 2020.

Thanks Dom

When you are a come player you are cutting into the casino’s profit because you are making bets that have the lowest house edge

There is an excellent article on this forum about place betting the 6 & 8 vs. pass/come betting with odds for a range of SRRs by the great Stickman: Link:  https://www.goldentouchcraps.com/articl … n_037.html

Stickman makes a complex subject understandable and he uses the math for the basis of his conclusions. This is one of many reasons why I am a GTC fan.
