Hello GTC, just wondering if anyone has experienced the new casino protocols for playing at the craps tables? I realize that only certain casinos have opened to the public. Please share your thoughts on the table conditions and do not mention any casino names.
Thank you,

Rose and Doc have read several yahoo “pop ups” that indicate that masks will be mandatory for employees but optional for guests but that masks will be available for guests as well as sanitation stations and that some of the disinfecting solutions may will be for sale by the cocktail waitresses and other employees.
Distancing will probably be enforced at least in the short run maybe longer. We have read two versions–3 players to a side or 4 to the side of a craps table.
What will we do? We will wear a mask–Doc has no choice because of a lung disorder–not serious at this time but one that needs to be monitored and recognized. We will also wear gloves but remove the glove on our throwing hand and handle the chips only with the non throwing arm. We will also use a lot of the disinfection liquids.
At this point this is what we expect. Please everybody, weight in on this issue you enter a casino and see what steps they have taken as we think it will become most important subject as the casino industry moves forward after the shutdown we have experienced.
Look forward to other’s thoughts.

I know someone that works at the VA hospital and before they can go in to the building they must pass a temperature test. They also ask them questions about any symptoms. A staff member screens everyone with one of those forehead temperature thermometers, anyone 100.4 or above is not allowed in and are suggested to self quarantine for two weeks and get tested asap. I would consider it like a metal detector at the airport, at least you know everyone in the room has passed the temperature test. Have not seen that mentioned but think it would be a good safety precaution.
From what I understand the basic masks only protect the wearer from infecting others, it does not protect the wearer from contracting the virus from others, you need the N95 mask, or better plus some sort of shield for the eyes. Harbor freight has clear safety glasses for $3.00 that provide good coverage.
I also think there are UV systems that can be used on chips and dice, then seal them, and not allow anyone to handle them without gloves? I can only imagine how weird its going to be….

I am going to the Connecticut casino on Sunday. Got a free room. The buffets and valet parking are closed. They are taking temps when you enter and are requiring masks.
THis is from the website.
As a reminder:
Valet parking will not be available.
Parking will be limited to the Grand Pequot or Great Cedar parking garages.
Line Run and Charter Buses will not be available at this time.
As is the case throughout Connecticut, dining will be grab-and-go.
Half of the Grand Pequot Ball Room is setup with dining tables and chairs, spaced according to social distancing guidelines, for grab-and-go patrons. Additionally, the Grand Pequot Tower valet entrance will be setup for outdoor dining.
Smoking will only be allowed in designated areas.
Poker, Bingo, Keno, and The Rainmaker Buffet will not be open during this first phase. are limiting admission to CT and RI residents.

Three to a side seems the norm, but the plexiglass has two versions, one small animal venue in CT I saw pictures of are curved and out over the table and to me unplayable, and the others on the rail which appears OK and I heard from a friend who shot on the strip over the weekend who had 30’s both with and without the dividers, so no impact there. The dividers seem like the parent company decision, trying to confirm that all within that parent on the strip are doing it. The other is definitely not around the country.

I played in Tunica 5/26, 27, 28….only the yellow metal place required a mask at the tables. Tables were $10 and $15 min. They were the only one to have plexiglass dividers on the crap table. 3persons to each side..
I also played at the equine foot covering. They allowed 3 people on each end, tables were $25 min, during prime times and were packed….they were $10 min in the morning. I played here right before I left. Had the biggest win I have ever had, all on my throw. bought in for 500 colored up 2400.
The Irish place was open with a $5 game.
3 casinos did not have their craps or roulette tables open.

Nice picture. I kind of like the table dividers. But none of that is in Vegas. The Nevada Gaming Commission issued the COVID-19 rules. Currently, craps tables are 3 to a side. On the strip, there is usually a line to get a table position, and it’s a long wait. Casino customers are a fifth of normal traffic. Some restaurants are open, but no buffet.
I will wait until this all blows over.

The dividers would be ok, except there is a half tube extending out over the table. This presents you from following through on your throw. The tube is rail high in front of you.
The other casino was normal with 3 people per side.
Just felt good to be back at the table.

Great photo. I agree, overkill. Wondering how the casinos without plexiglass or partitions are going to social distance the patrons if only three to a side? Can you stand close to where they tell you your position will be at the table?

THe casino I played at without the plexiglass had reserve signs in the positions that are not to be used. My wife was standing next to me at an empty spot and the boxman asked her to back up. He was not mean about it and apologized, just the rules to keep open. Other than the mask the experience was not much different at that casino. Longer waits to get on a table during prime times and some higher minimum bets, but all in all, it is something I think I could live with.
Stay safe and have fun winning.

I have a small edge of 3 to 4% when conditions are near ideal, that is, shooting from SL1 on a playable table by myself or with 1 or 2 others and with a good crew and not a lot of distractions. If I have to shoot from SL2 with a mask and who knows whatever distractions like a crowded table with partitions and chips in the landing zone, I am concerned that my edge will disappear. I know that I should be able to overcome most if not all of these obstacles, but unfortunately, so far I have not progressed to that level. So, I am little discouraged. I can only hope that things get back closer to normal soon.

@bminus1 do not be discouraged. Make minor adjustments to extend your toss, a little more backswing. Do you have a table? Have you been practicing from a longer length? I practice from SL2 always because a) my home Casino has 14 foot tables that open before the 12 footers and b), when I go with friends I can easily take a further position.

@HardNine Thanks for the encouragement. As for shooting from SL2, it’s been along time since I practiced from there on my home rig. I resolved some time ago to only play where and when I had advantage. As Mr. Dom has stated, it is more difficult to influence the dice the further away you are, Therefore I quit playing from SL2 and on 14′ tables. I am quite spoiled since I normally play early in the morning on week days when I most often am the only one at the table. There are many advantages to this, for example: (1) no random rollers to lose on (2) You have the dice all the time and you control the table. (3) no chips in the way (4) all the bets are yours.

@bminus1 If Only!!!! It’s rare that I’m in that position, and I’m unable to get those early morning weekday sessions very often. I’ve only been to one venue so far, and the first spot is barely even 1.5, so you may be able to sneak to 1 when you’re shooting.
Hopefully things will settle down soon and we can really get the real normal back!

We have been looking at the face book things about the casinos we play at . The crowd is big and not one that I would like to deal with . So we are waiting till things get better . The wait to get in and other things like to many people for now . just saying .
