The election year has NOTHING to do with this it is world wide my daughter has been in Spain under lock down since she got  back from her visit to us in Feb. and now we are not able to visit her .

Just in my zip code there is 65 cases .

With respect, I believe that the election year has so much to do with this lock down. I also believe that President Trump was caught between a rock and a hard place when it come to the lock down.

There are two sides to every coin and our President only listened to one side of the coin. And, BTW, no one is a bigger supporter of our president than I am and all his policies, but on this case IMHO  he was wrong. This video points to the old adage of “follow t.he money” and you will get answers.

There are so many questions that I would like answered. Questions like CA has double the population of NY but way fewer deaths – why – what might be some of the reasons – UV light in a sunny state or something else. If the reason for the shut down was to avoid an over was to stop an over run at our hospitals, (which never happened), why are so many places still shut down? I could go on and on with these questions but as thee video points out if you go against the norm you are shut down so these questions are not asked on the main stream media. The so called experts have been wrong about almost everything. Not their fault, this is a new virus, but questions need to be asked.

All I am saying, and I feel for your daughter, but I also feel for my son-in-law that is in the restaurant business and has lost his job – will his job ever come back or because of the hysteria will people ever go back to restaurants like they use to?

I will say it because it is the hard truth that we all will have to grapple with – and people in the future will maybe try to answer, 30 Million jobs lost versus 70,000 deaths. Terrible to say, but something we all need to think about because a virus will happen again and will we shut down the country again when it does happen? Just think there are not elections all over the world which this is happening to . If it was just in us then I would think about that more but it is not and people all over the world are out of work too .

Some  are not allowing any one in period . I think the CDC should have done a better job at the start period . There has been nothing said what they did at the start . Just that they new of about 800 people that may have been in contact with others but not what they did . 

Like you said there is a lot of questions that need to be asked .

What has happened in the rest of the world really does suck, But Trump stopped people coming in from Europe and China early on. I really care about what has happened to our country and in our country IMHO this was political in some sense.

I am not saying that this virus was a fake and wasn’t terrible. But what I am saying is that in my opinion the whole country didn’t need to be shut down. You look at the states in NY – 66% of the deaths were people that didn’t leave heir homes, 25% of the deaths were people that were in nursing homes where the NYS Governor, who so many people think has been great, did an executive order to let Corona infected people back into these homes when they could have been quarantined in the Navy ship.

States will come out and I just hope that the questions will be answered fairly and without bias

With much respect @finisher I pray that you are right sir and I am wrong. Consider that our elections for POTUS have more global impact than any other nation on the planet. Consider it possible that China does not want this administration to be in office for another 4 years. Consider that Clinton spent 1 billion dollars more than twice what Trump spent and she did not win. Consider that the Russians interfered because they did not want Clinton, it has happened in the past, is it possible that China is interfering by means of this global pandemic? Did the liberals fund research in Wuhan China? Doesnt it seem a coincidence that unemployment was at an all time low, our economy was booming, stock market higher than ever, many many good things were happening for the U.S. we were better off than ever before in history, then all the sudden people in China were protesting about a lab, then boom a virus breaks out in Wuhan China where it is said that 37 milllion US dollars were paid to a laboratory for who knows what. I do not want to have a negative view of the world but there is much more evil than we care to admit, its a shame. I just want answers to some of these questions too…is the U.S. so special that our elections have global impact, yes we are sir, the implications are very real for some countries.

I remember when I was traveling Geneva to Spain moving my daughter we stayed at a Band B in France the people there said to us . You know that Trump guy that is running for the Presidency makes our guys look good . Now I think back and think they know what was going on even tho they were not American .Just lived in the country and ran a Band B . Just saying .

It use to be that the whole world looked for our leadership in ALL things now we are not the leader in any of this . When the other viruses were here and else were we were the leaders in it . The CDC did the job and all the world listened back then . Now we are not even listening to them exceopt for those of us at home for now .

That’s not a large number as per our population just as long as your not in that number. Take out the deaths that were listed & misdiagnosed as a carona-19 death such as the flu & heart attacks, just to name a few. There are plenty more. That number will drop drastically.  The fact that the news & some politicians are trying to put fear & hysteria into the general public about corona-19, its high numbers & deaths just isn’t right. The are always playing with those numbers. They don’t want us to know what the actual numbers are,  as per my opening statement. They shut all businesses down. Stop us from working. Keep us in our houses. Can’t sit in the park or on the beach. Wear masks & gloves. This a short list I’m pretty sure we could add a lot more to that list. Is that a description of the country we live in & know? What is our government trying to do to us? It’s just a matter of time before we start to uprise & fight back. I wouldn’t want to see that happen, but when your up against the wall anything can happen.

That is a terrible situation I am sorry to hear. Is there nothing you can do? Is she able to get post, fedex, ups, or dhl or some type of shipments, if so you could be ordering and buying supplies then send them to her. I have not left my house since March 12th, and have ordered everything even toilet paper. Try Amazon, sign up for Prime membership and only order items sold by Amazon, Pantry, or if available whole foods, hopefully you can get timely deliveries to where you live and then forward them to her in small discrete packaging. I know it will take time to get to her but if you send a little every few days you can set up a supply chain for her. I truly hope this helps, good luck, and yes we do have it good here a lot to be thankful for.

WE just looked at getting some books for the Grd kids for Xmas and the books came to about 94.00 plus shipping 120.00 . So we are trying Spain Amazon which is free shipping but the cost of books is higher .

We are not able to go there since they have closed to US . We did have our flights booked for Aug. 17 but they cancelled and gave money back already .

This is for real and it is bad all over . I think if Trump would have made it an order to go by his guide lines we would all have been better off . My state opened up not following the guide lines and we are in shit shape now . I live in AZ. were it is hot and it has no affect on this virus .

Dom I just wish that Trump would think that way . He is not that type of leader tho . If you even disagree you are gone even tho you may be right and have the best knowledge about the subject .If you acted like he does how long do you think you would keep the crew that you have . I know that you have had to make decisions that you may not like and others may not like but the buck stopped with you if things went the wrong way and you manned up to them . Were he just blames some one else or fires them and says it was their problem or says I never heard of them .

I said that I would give him a chance but did not think that he could walk the walk and he has proven that to me now look at were we are and look at how bad we are off if a new person comes in . I respect you Finisher, you are a great guy and a prolific poster on this forum,  but until this pandemic came, (that I believe he did the wrong thing – not what the media is talking about the wrong thing, but I believe that he should have never shut down this country), this country was doing great and on the right track. Yes, he is crude, yes he says somethings that make other cringe (not me BTW), but in my opinion he says thing that I and many of us were thinking about the the direction of this country.

That is why he got elected in the first place. People like me, who voted and contributed to other politicians because they said they would change things, never did. The Republicans have been feckless and the Democrats open border policies, immigration policies, redistribution of income, and so many other things are things I can’t vote for. Trump came along and said what so many of us have been thinking for years and said he would change things and he did. Yes, maybe not the way a typical politician would have done it or say it, but that is what I wanted, to turn Washington upside down. … to drain the swamp. The thing is that swamp is even deeper than most thought.

At 67 years old, my life is more than half way over. What really bothers me though is the world we are leaving for my grandchildren. How they are being indoctrinated in schools to think that socialism is the way to go. I really go so mad at our school system. I was involved with many protest as a college student, but called them sit ins, we didn’t destroy monuments. We knew the Pledge of Allegiance and knew who our former Presidents were and what our brave solders fought for.

In my opinion you don’t have to like Trump for whatever reason anyone has, but people need to ask if the country we grew up in is going to be the same country that we loved if the other guy gets elected. I think the evidence that it won’t be is in plain sight. The Republicans and the Democrat politicians didn’t want Trump to be elected, not because of his views but because he jeopardized their existence. A none politician that didn’t take money from anyone and never held office before became the President of the united States and they, the politicians NEVER want this to happen again.

I won’t apologize for my thoughts and I won’t be silent. I will speak up for what I believe in and hope and pray that when I am gone my grandchildren will have a country that they can be whatever they want to be and say whatever they want to say without the cancel culture cancelling them out of a job.

My thought is that if you don’t support Trump you support socialism. What about the Constitution of the United States? I see big differences between the US Constitution and what the Democratic Party wants. To vote democrat also means you are pro abortion. I just can’t justify sacrificing my morals on the constitution and right to life because a guy might be abrasive and offensive to some people. To me there is no gray area, we need to protect the Constitution and not move towards socialism. Being pro life I cannot vote democratic it’s not an option for me, never has been.

I realize these two issues are not mentioned in any posts on this topic, in my mind these are the issues that truly matter, and all the other stuff we have to learn to live with. All I am saying is I am pro life and support the US Constitution. If you vote for democrat then you are not Pro Life and do not support the Constitution of the United States.

Thank you Mr. Dom and Admin for expressing opinions that seem right on track to me.  With hindsight, I agree that the country should never have been shut down.  Having said that, the prevailing wisdom in February from the experts like Dr. Fauci was erroneous and in more than one case they lied on purpose “for our own welfare”. 

Bad information from China or whatever the reason concluded that the virus was 30 some times more contagious than the seasonal flu – it turns out to be 2 to 4 times more contagious than the seasonal flu.  Based on that erroneous conclusion the models showed an estimated death toll of 2.2 million if extreme mitigation was not  implemented.  On March 31st, a presentation on TV showed a revised estimate of mortality to be between 100,000 and 240,000.

My criticism is that the plan was not changed to reflect the revised information.  There should have been no shutdown and the elderly people should been protected.  Governor Cuomo and 4 other governors issued orders to return elderly COVID patients to the nursing homes from which they came resulting in an estimated 6000 deaths of the elderly in nursing homes in New York city alone.  Almost half of the deaths to date (~60,000 of the 130.000 total deaths) have occurred in nursing homes.  The mortality rate for people under 65 is not too different from that of the seasonal flu at a small fraction of 1%.
