Thank you

Figure I would give some background and see what advice I can get. I go to casinos maybe 4 to 5 times a year.Mainly because I work 70 hours a
Week. I am a winning poker player but love the game of craps and find myself going to the pit after poker sessions at the casino. I started finding things on YouTube about dice control a few months back and was immediately intrigued. I just finished building my own table ,ordered Doms practice rig and throwing station which when I get it will be along side of the table I built.Plan on attending a seminar this year and just ordered doms dvd. Speaking with him on the phone he gave me some tips about my grip which I will work on.One thing I will do is practice on a nightly basis approx one hour a night before bed probably longer on the weekends.

I could use some advice on practice. Since I have not yet taken the class I am worried I am just creating bad habits by practicing which may just set me back. I should get his dvd by the weekend which I am hoping will give me specific things to work on so when I go to the seminar I can pick things up quickly.

Can anyone point out specific things I can work on or things from the dvd that I will be getting that will show me good things to practice at my house?

My fears are practice wrong leads to bad habits which create bad muscle memory and take longer to correct. My goals are when I do go to visit
The casinos to become a great thrower of the dice and a big winner at the craps table.Any advice on what to do or not do would be helpful..should I not practice till after attending the seminar with Dom?

Bob, may Rpse and Doc welcome you to Golden Touch Craps. Rose and I took the course in 2006. With your attitude and obvious desire to succeed you should do well. Glad you were able to hook up with Dom and get some grip advice. Remember that when you have the dice in your hand is the only time you have 100% control over the dice. Once they leave your hand physics and gravity take over. Working on your grip should be primary as you move forward.

You are correct that as you practice before and after a class that some flaws in your muscle memory may well creep into your throw. We would recommend that you practice in short spurts–maybe 30 minutes a couple of times a day.

You will do well with GTC.

Look forward to seeing you in 2020.

Here is something you can practice that will be useful to you in the future. It will not have to be unlearned. Click below.

How to Set the Dice Quickly

Bob, there is no way you will ever better information than what Skinny has illustrated.

Something that has always helped Rose and Doc is to remember that the opposite sides of the dice always add up to 7. Examples—5 on top 2 will always be on the bottom, the same for the 3 and 4 as will as the 6 and 1.

Can’t wait to see you in class later this year.

I first started throwing dice using the kitchen stool about ten feet out to a card board box. Then progressed to a painter bucket. Then progressed to a little practice table. I always commit to no less than fifteen minutes a day even on my long work days. And I watch the DVD’s every week.

I read the book "Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution" on my breaks. Just a paragraph or page at a time. I work ten hour days too. Nice way to break up the day with coffee.

They will rock your world in the GTC class. The food was good too. LOL

Well I said that this is a journey that you will be on . So is card playing . You will find a lot of card players when the big card game is under way in Vegas at the craps table . Also the Min. bet is higher then .
As far as bad habits go . They teach the 3 finger grip in class . So when I took the class I did not know that and I had be using 2 finger grip .So that set me back at least 1 1/2 day .Also need to have all nails same length . Took one day to find that out also . You need to take good notes which I didn’t do .
I had been throwing the dice for some 30 years before so had lots of bad habits to over come . They did not teach about betting back then which they do now . ( class in 2011 ) .
I would say practice with chips in your way and play . That way you can see how much work it is for the dealers to do when the table gets busy . I built my own table and now have 2 BJ and 1 porker table for casino nights .
I went to class and did not roll at the casino till the class was over . That was Fri. Sat. Sun. I built my table after I took the class even tho I liked rolling the bones .
The one thing that I hated about the class was when they would say that is a good 7 . Meaning a 5/2 or 3/4 . Not saying how to not throw them . that comes later . 😀 🙂
Just like in porker you have to live with the hand that you are dealt with . So if you have some bad habits they will pop up every now and again .
Good Rolling. 😀 🙂

I have been working on setting the dice quickly.Good advice as I do it much quicker than before. Roll lots of sevens lol.I watched disk one of video,my class is in 4 months so will have plenty of time to work on setting the dice and my grip. I find it harder to use the three finger grip over the one finger grip. Will still work on the three finger exclusively. Does anyone in gtc use the one finger grip?

BobM asked about the 1 finger grip. I use the 1 finger grip and I think some other GTCers use it as well. I use it mostly because it works better for me since I have large fingers that hang over the edges of the dice on both sides. I started with the 3 finger grip because it is GTCs preferred grip and I understand that Mr. Dom believes that a lot of control is given up using the 1 or 2 finger grip. I have occasionally gone back to the 3 finger grip from time to time. However, the 1 finger grip seems to be better for me probably because of my finger size. The 2 short comings of the 1 finger grip that I have experienced are as follows: (1) the 1 finger must be centered on both dice equally to avoid the dice being out of sync in height and pitch as they approach the back wall and (2) there is a tendency for the dice to slide off the sides of the one finger in the release. This causes a wobble in the air as the dice rotate and the dice will not land flat on the table but on an edge resulting in pretty much a random roll.

The more I practice, the luckier I get.
