The edge dimensions vary from 19.10 mm to 19.70 mm. Keep in mind that 3/4” dice would be 19.05 mm, which I have not yet found.
The weight per pair of dice ranges from 17.66 g to 19.58 g.
The dice at the casino with 19.60 mm edges (single die) weigh 19.58 g a pair. The dice at the casino with 19.10 mm edges weigh 17.68 g per pair. Obviously, there is a correlation between die size (cubed) and weight.
The significance of the variation in dice is less significant than table conditions.
My survey showed that casinos with harder tables ( layout over wood/slate) use the larger, heavier dice. Casinos with softer/bouncier tables use lighter to midrange dice. Generally speaking. But this might be happenstance.
On a side note, I am finding that bouncy tables, on which a dice no-roll occurs for most shooters, is more often caused by over stretched layouts than by underlayment. On such tightly stretched layouts, give them a year or two, and they might lose the bouncy tightness from the periodic cleaning. Or, spill a large glass of beer on your landing zone, and come back after it’s been cleaned and dried. Another option is to do as Dr Crapology did on one occasion – cut your finger and bleed on your landing zone, just a little will do. Get the Stickman’s attention and they’ll stop the table and vigorously clean that up pronto.
Note: The dice you can buy from Amazon and eBay are all, every one, smaller and lighter than any casino dice. Don’t use them. I have ordered the new GTC dice ($9 a pair, $16 per sleeve), which are midrange size and weight.

PS: I think the conversion from 0.75 inch is 19.05 mm.

Great analysis Preacher, very enlightening. I have also observed that some tables seem to ‘age’ probably due to the layout relaxing.
PS: I think the conversion from 0.75 inch is 19.05.
That’s what I said! 19.05 mm. 😉 Thanks, I made the correction.
My wife, RollTide4Ever, my youngest son, and I made a weekend trip to Lake Charles, LA. The only casino with a crapless table was a 14 footer with an amazingly bouncy surface. There must have been rubber (cell filled foam) under that layout! We left and went to two nearby casinos. Both had microfiber on wood – a bit soft but very playable. We played at the one with the most tables. My wife and son are coming along nicely. Before going to the tables, I gave them a few pointers on adjusting to table conditions. Both had two rolls each in the upper 20’s, so I am pleased with there progress. My son is ready for our next trip.
