burn out

Spread the love

I seem to have gotten burned out a little from all the practice. Does this happen to others or am I a lone wolf? My SRR (in practice) was going south so I stopped going to the casino for a long time. I stopped recording throws and started just putting all of my dice on the table and chucking them until they are all gone; gather them up and go again. I think that this has improved my throws but still am not satisfied with them. I have not practiced now for 4 days however today I had a Uber trip to Ho Chunk so I decided to go in. The table was full but stick left one and two was open and the dice was two spots away from that spot so I decided to take a turn. As soon as I walked up the guy with the dice sevened out. The next guy did make a 5 count so I put $5 on the Come line and he sevened out. My turn consisted of 19 rolls and I walked away with $25. I’m a conservative better. $5 with $10 odds. I didn’t want to wait for the dice to get back to me with the full table.
I did notice that the dealer seemed to be staring at me; kind of giving me the evil eye.

Looks like you are in or have been in a funk. We have all been there–and I mean everyone–especially Rose and Doc. Some sort of minor flaw has developed in your grip or throw. Be sure to review the notes in the manual you were given when you were in class. This can really help. Also come to a class weekend and do at least one of the following–come to the open house so an instructor can take a quick look at your grip and/or throw or better yet take a tune up or a refreshed class. Any of these will help with the refresher getting you the most time practicing.

Don’t know what you mean by "chucking" the dice down the table but I assume you mean you don’t set the dice but simple grab the dice and "wing" them down the table with them bouncing all over the place. If so, that is not practice but simply being a random player and in all honestly a waste of time.

Remember even the best shooters in the NBA and hitters in professional baseball have coaches to assist them when the get in a "funk." We at GTC are no different. Rose and Doc are fortunate in that we each have a coach in house. So busman3845 you have the basics of becoming a great shooter, you probably only need a couple of corrections to get your throw back. You probably had a good shot when the class was over. Please come see us so we can take a quick look at your shot. We all care and would love to help you become the best you can become.

Hope we have diagnosed your situation correctly and that this advice will be of assistance. Hope to see you soon.

chucking was just a humorous way of saying it. I always set and throw according to my instructions; at least I try to.

Gotcha, just keep on working on your grip. If you don’t have someone who near by who has taken a class who can take a look at your grip and throw, you can explain to your spouse or a friend what you were taught in class and they can possibly help. Not your best option but it can’t hurt. Always come to a class weekend for a refresher or a tune up. Dice control for advantage play is a never ending journey so please come let us help you. That is what we are there for.

Burn out is much more likely when you are alone. You need a craps companion. Since my fellow GTC player and son, CaptAmerica, is not nearby for awhile, I have recruited my wife and youngest son, teaching them the ways of GTC. They are coming along nicely. I will be taking them to a GTC class for training by professionals as soon as my knee is replaced. In the meantime, they are great company at the table for me. We also play full mock sessions at home, using my GTC practice stations and a full craps layout on the kitchen table for bets, using my beautiful foil engraved ceramic chips, from $1 to $50,000. During our full practice sessions, we 5 count and follow all the GTC betting methods. We’ll even put on music to create the casino ambiance. It’s work, but it’s fun.

In other words, I mix things up to prevent burn out. Occasionally, I will also pull out my trusty GTC dice cup for landing zone target practice. Sometimes, I will also video record my throws and review them in slow motion, to spot any bad habits.

In your area, it looks like all of your casinos are Indian casinos. If so, I have found their tables to ordinarily be 14’. If so, be sure you practice no closer than 9 1/2’ from the back wall of your receiving station. If your preferred casino has softer tables (microfiber over felt or some other cushioning material), I recommend you add a similarly constructed base or insert to your practice table, so your dice will act the same during practice as they will at your casino.

If you have no local casino companions, convert one or two from your circle of friends. Bring them over and introduce them to what you have learned. Sit down with them and watch the instructional videos on the Golden Touch Youtube channel. Let them know the game looks complicated, but explain they only need to know the good bets – Pass Line and Come Bets. Once they get through the basics, you are well on your way to having your own crew!

Busman, you need to relax and clear your mind of all these thoughts that are hindering your game. Sure it would be nice to have someone to watch your throws, but that isn’t always possible. As Doc said, it’s probably in your grip. Remember all the teaching points, listen to the voices in your head (for me it’s Mr. Finesse–miss you Bob so much) of your instructors. Start back at the beginning, feet shoulder width apart, set the dice, grip (check in a mirror), set up, etc… you know the drill but you’ve been missing one or two key points. Relax, you’ll find your issue and move past it. For me I can turn to my wife who happens to be the 2nd woman to join GTC (Goddess will always be #1), Little Debbie has a sharp eye and always finds my flaws. If you can’t find the issue, go to a class to take a tune-up. Little Debbie and I do the video-elite once a year to keep on the straight and narrow path of success. Look up Einstein’s quote about insanity… don’t keep doing the same thing–find your issue and correct it.

I hear what your saying. I just started my 5000 rolls to determine my SRR. Lately I have been really stinking it UP.. Hardly can make a 5 count sometimes.
I don’t have any fellow GTC members nearby to do a look over and see what might be wrong. This is what I do.. when this happens. I realize I’m just at the beginning of the journey I re read the POWER plan Go online and watch Dom’s Video’s of the 8 physical elements lots of good information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MrqyVrQWck&t=345s I love when he says you don’t want to pitch from 2nd base !

I Usually try to get in 3 20-30 minutes in a day. I’ll keep at it I wish every toss was a 5-5 4-4 3-3 2-2 but that awful 3-4 5-2 does show up. I guess if it didn’t we would never be able to get on a craps table.

Hang in there.
