[Part 1 – An offer I could not refuse.]
It was October 2016 when I took my first primer class taking advantage of a ½ price sale for a last minute sign-up promotion, there I met Dom in person and his famous instructors all written or mentioned in published books. My team captain was Randman. I can still remember the “The Goddess” grabbing my wrist saying “My husband has this same problem, keep your wrist straight!!!”
After meeting Dom I knew right away that he was a no-nonsense man made up of 25% Sicilian and 75% Calabrian, the exact formula needed to make a human C-4. So I decided I better listen to this man and everything he says so I came in early to class every day and hung on to every word he said.
After the class was over, I registered for the refresher and built a log on google sheets to track my last 5000 throws. Before the refresher I took the Doc and ROSE tune-up and my team captain was Midnight. I believe the tune up, the instruction from Midnight on how to land your dice on a target and the tips from the several instructors helped me qualify for the advance class which I took twice with NFF and BTK two very awesome instructors. I practiced my throw every day at least for an hour or two. I practice my come betting strategy religiously even creating an experiment in November of 2017 where I started a mock-bankroll of 5K and logged each session while tuning my strategy that balances my risk vs skills. As of August 2019 this mock bankroll had a balance of 90K. At the live tables I follow every GTC rule and follow my practiced betting procedure exactly.
After my Video Elite in October 2018, Dom took me to the side and asked “Would you like to be an intern?” Without hesitation I said yes, I didn’t even ask about what the monetary compensation was because right away I knew that learning the pedagogy of teaching the GTC dice throw and being a member of the GTC family is a priceless honor. After saying yes he announced to the instructors in the room that I have accepted his offer to be an intern. He then fed me a delicious White-house Sub and had me watch the store during the open house and filling out receipts for customer purchases and shadow Janus during the weekend class. During the class I helped out doing several tasks and even in assisting in an emergency repair of the advance table during a break, so some basic carpentry skills are needed. I wore a basic black Golden Touch T-Shirt and GTC baseball cap.
Although very happy about being an intern I started thinking, OMG, I have not recorded any long rolls 40+ that was witness by another GTC member (student or instructor) and knowing Dom’s thirst for perfection, performing to his expectation as all of his instructors are top notch. That Monday morning after the GTC class was over, NightRider (NR) texted me for a meet-up at a casino that I liked at 2pm. When I arrived at the table it was completely empty I rolled one or two hands before NR arrived then later a team of people that seemed to be together. At the end of the table was a guy taking notes and realized that I was in the middle of a table of a bunch of guys that took the GTC class. I did not tell them I was a GTC intern, and I realized he would be recording mine. I closed my eyes and I knew I had to perform well as I am representing GTC and a surge of confidence came over me, that hand I rolled a 44 hitting the 7 only once. Everyone made money and even offered me a black chip to roll again and I declined as I was exhausted after rolling for 55 minutes. I was happy that I made it to the 40 roll club. I emailed Dom right away about the session.

It is those stories of epic proportion that keep us excited about the journey in our Craps game. I have had my moments and know how good it feels. I also found that sometimes it is just one roll that gives me the satisfaction on the way home. Setting the dice for that one number and rolling it with precision. That one roll can feel just as good as the hour long roll.
Playing it back in my mind like Booby Orr flying across the front of the hockey goal at the 1970 Stanley Cup.
