Reno Trip Report

Four of us went. Teflon Don, Hard Nine, myself and George, the NEW BEE to craps. It was our 1st time to Reno. Arrived on Thursday and stayed at the Harrah’s Reno hotel. Was a little run down compared to the Vegas Harrah’s. Carpets throughout were well traveled on and some hallway carpets were dirty. Rooms were OK. Ventured around to most of the casinos in Reno as I was collecting $1 chips for my chip collection. Made it to North Lake Tahoe (Incline Village and Crystal Bay). What a vista view traveling in on 431 through the Sierra Nevada Mountains from Reno to N.L.T. Simply spectacular.

As I was collecting a chip from Hyatt Regency the Pit Boss mentioned they have some old vintage chips in the vault. Followed her to the cashier who listened to the Pit Boss then disappeared into the vault. What a find, they were the old brass based chips. Picked up three, one for Hard Nine and two for myself. Next day drove through Old Virginia City on the way to Carson City. Picked up more chips from those casinos. Did the same in South Lake Tahoe / Stateline, Harrahs, Harveys, Hard Rock, Montblue, and Lakeside Inn.

Needless to say we were there for the craps. On Friday Teflon Don started us off with a Leader Board topping 51 roll hand. He earned a jacket and a cash reward for being the top roller for the day. We hit most of the venues in Reno. Seemed where ever we went one of us carried the other two. Don finished off the trip with two great rolls. This trip helped re-enforce the 5 count strategy. There just no reason to go up on those random shooters. There were plenty of places to play and sufficient time (5 days) to be patient waiting for the next good roll. We all agreed on the best venues to shoot and visited them several times. We were also able to identify the good crews who really enjoyed our tipping strategy to keep them on our side.

Overall it was a good trip and profitable. Now the we’ve identified the best venues our next trips will be that much more productive.

Scooter, nice trip report. Always good to hear about fellow GTC family doing well. The principles we follow do pay off (the five count) and playing with other GTC members is always exciting and often very profitable. Little Debbie and I visited Reno years ago when we were Black Jack players and were very disappointed with the city. We’ll have to return with out new skills and see how much damage we can do. It’s nice being able to walk away from a casino when we know the tables are bad. Tables change so often it’s hard to keep up with were the best game can be found. In Las Vegas one of the only constants are the tables at one of the premier strip casinos. Little Debbie did some damage there last month and every time we have visited LV the best tables have repeatedly in that same casino. Hope to play with you and Hard Nine soon.

Scooter,

The perfect trip. A successful trip and you were able to collect chips that we know you love. If and when we head to Reno/ Tahoe, we plan to stay in Tahoe. Tahoe is one of the prettiest spots in all of the great west.
