    Capt America Headed Back to Afghanistan

    Captain America is headed back to northern Afghanistan. He was home two weeks for stateside vacation with his wife and my 3 grandkids, two boys and a girl. Attached is a photo of him saying goodby to his sons. They tried to be good troopers, but they had too little time with him. Being apart from a young family fo very long is tough for anyone. But they know their daddy’s work is important.

    My daughter-in-law does a great job with the kids, she’s such a good mom. Hopefully, Cap will be back before the end of the year. If so, you’ll catch us at a good craps table. Hope to see you all there.

    After his short vacation stateside in June, Capt America completed his year in Afghanistan. He and his soldiers are back at Ft Flagg. He was cheerfully rejoined with his wife and my 3 grandchildren. He’s back and already wanting to know when we can make a casino trip.

    Capt America has a change of command ceremony next month, when he assumes his first command – a milestone in his career. We are planning a trip to Las Vegas in spring, to give me time to recover from knee replacement, perhaps both. I’ll let you Vegas regulars know when exactly in the months to come. My brother wants to join us, so I hope to introduce more of my family to the Golden Touch way.

    Another update on our Capt America. He, wife and children have now move to Aberdeen, MD. It has the makings of a long-term assignment. I hope to visit this next year. He and I will definitely be hitting the local casinos.

    His new job has an element of counter-espionage. After discussing this with him, I mentioned his wife might not appreciate his having to deal with the very pretty Russian spy ladies. So, I volunteered to take that on – as a Patriot, of course. I’m pretty sure RollTide4Ever would understand my sacrifice. Then again, as an Alabama girl, she might have other ideas – painful ones.

    Glad he is back on US soil.   I had many restless nights when my son was in Afghanistan. If you do a Las Vegas trip be sure to let us know the dates!  If I can get away from work I’m always up for a Vegas Vacation 🙂
