Hello, I would like to know what is defined as a bouncy table? I feel some of the tables that I have been playing on and they seem hard but yet the dice seem bouncy. Others feel hard but the dice don’t seem to bounce that much. Is a bouncy table a really big deal? Does it make a huge difference in results? I am concerned of falling into a trap and blaming the table when I should be criticizing my throw. Thanks in advance for the experienced answers I am sure to receive. I am very new at this.

First, can you hear the dice hit the table. If I am unfamiliar with a table, or casino, I will listen to the dice when they land on the table. It won’t be loud, but the more definitive the sound, the harder the surface.
Second, how do my dice react on striking the table. I have one house I have played at, one of two things happens. My dice never leave the table, so, when I have a tough time keeping my dice on the table, it’s a bouncy table. To that end, my dice usually hit the lower to middle portions of the wall, so, when I see my dice hitting the higher end of the wall, I know I have a bouncy surface.
Lastly, how my dice react off the wall. A bouncy surface will not absorb and cancel the kinetic energy like a harder surface. I played at one casino that I knew the tables had bounce, my dice were exploding off the wall way more than I am used to.
Oh, and one more thing, sometimes, I will rub my fingers across the table surface. I’ll do it in between rolls to make it look like I am trying to dry my fingertips, but I am gauging the surface on what I feel.
I’m sure there are other ways, but these are things I take notice of when I am unfamiliar with a table.

But your person observation is your best bet. You will learn in no time. Also come to a class and at the least come to the open house, take a tune up, or to get the best look at your throw, take a refresher. If the East Coast is convenient it should not be too difficult to make the class weekend next weekend so call Dom and come by AC.

Hope to see you soon.
