Just a few random thoughts on this game.
I took the Introductory course about 6 months ago now….in Atlantic City. I thoroughly enjoyed the Craps training and believe I did get much out of the seminar. The biggest thing was not on the throw itself, although the concepts and methodology makes sense to me…but the biggest thing I got out of the seminar has been the betting. The 5 count and come betting specifically.
I have been going to my local casinos roughly once a week, and started off practicing as often as I could …. started the practice 9 months to a year before attending the Introductory course. I learned at the course that I was doing it wrong, of course, which was exactly what I was afraid of. I want to practice the right way, and throw the right way.
Anyway I seem to have some tennis elbow from throwing the dice too much, and have been feeling something like that in my shoulder as well.
Does anyone else have this?
I find I am winning more than i’m losing, primarily because of the betting. With a 5 count and come bets there still are times I will get my come bet and odds set just in time to 7 out. It happens sometimes back to back to back, and so on. On the other hand the casino is raking in large piles of chips at the same time for bettors that bet 54 across or the iron cross or whatever, meanwhile taking the paltry sums I am betting. And many times they are paying me for my come bet on the 7 out…. I can still act disappointed that the shooter severed out, but secretly happy to get paid.
I’ve slowed my practice way down to try to get my arm rested.
My rolls when I was practicing a lot never got much better than a random roll. Sometimes I feel as though I am doing somewhat better than most shooters with my rolls at the casino. Other regulars that I see have made comments that I do well. But again, the biggest edge I have is the betting. Even seven-ing out on my rolls I often get paid for a come bet, which eases the sting.
Anyway I am planning to take the course again in Vegas in August as a refresher. Hopefully I can learn to throw better, and make more profitable runs at the casinos here.

I know it can be disappointing when you set up 3 numbers through the PL and Come Line and have no paydays and you have lost 3 bets, while you watch someone placing all the numbers across and he/she has a winner on the three numbers you rolled in action through the PL and come line. But he lost 3 bets as well—he made 6 bets and only won 3. Remember you are in this for the long run and all of that place betting with the higher house vig on all the numbers that the place bettor will make over and over, will kill the place bettor in the long run.
Back to the 5 count, some random roller (we called them chicken feeders) sets the pass line and has an immediate 7 out. You are a big winner over the place bettor as he loses 6 bets and you lose none. Have seen a player place all the 6 box numbers across and call them working on the come out roll and lose all six bets and this happened 3 times in a row. A loss of 18 bets on only three rolls. Talk about being in a hole from the "get go."
So keep up the good work you are doing.
As to your tennis elbow discomfort, I am no doctor, but rest should help. Also you should have your arm straight and not bend the elbow at all during your throw. The only joint you will use is the shoulder using a slow smooth swing. (Also remember that the back swing is only about 4" straight back — don’t come up on the backswing). Not bending the elbow just might help and give you a little relief from not using the elbow joint as much. Have you tried some sort of elastic sleeve that I have seen people use on the golf course for relief from "tennis elbow."

Billy, Daryl, and I stress that – "The way to win more money is to learn to lose LESS money" – A line that Billy the Kid came up with that is becoming a major part of our seminar. utilizing the 5-count and also going to come betting will do this.
I wish that this post gets a tons of reads!

As for the tennis elbow, I use pain patches on my arthritic knees and back, and it really helps me. Perhaps they would work for you. Also, heat brings blood to the surface, relaxing muscles and aiding healing.
I am happy to see you plan a refresher class. They always help. Don’t forget, you can also go to the open house and have your throw looked at.
