LV 3-28 to 4-03
Two members of the Chicago Wrecking Crew Doug Square Dice and I decided to meet up in Vegas on Thursday the week after March Madness kicked off for some M & M (mischief and mayhem). Most of the tables on the strip still were gouging patrons with high table minimums – $15-25-50. After our scouting trip we hit the Diamond Lounge then decided to go off strip to my Uncle’s casino searching for a reasonable table minimum. My position (SR1) was open but Square Dice had to settle for SL3. We exercised the appropriate table etiquette and waited to buy in till shooter was done (It’s amazing how poor the etiquette is at most casinos). It took a while as he preceded to hit the ATS. It was fun to watched the table explode with its usual comradery when someone is on a good roll.
Earlier we had contacted two of our local contacts (Matt & Brothelman) to try to hook up. Matt forwarded the info to one of his buddies (Daryl) who was in town from Canada. Daryl had attended one GTC class and was looking for some shooting companions. We agreed to meet at my Uncle’s casino. Daryl showed up’ tapped me on the shoulder, introduced himself and was able to get in SR position as some left after the shooter finished his great roll. Now armed with three shooters at the table we were set up for some R & P (raid and pillage). Turning around after another tap on the shoulder I was greeted by my buddy’s (Hard Nine) good friend (Ten Man), who was in on the great rolls we had together in AC a year ago. Hard Nine could not join us on this trip as he was doing Hard Time at his day job. What a CHANCE ENCOUNTER! Ten Man relocated from the east coast and is now anchored in LV. Ten Man introduced his protégé Richard (Teflon Don). Now we had five shooters. Excellent staffing to execute the evening’s game plan, although Ten Man sat out till proper position could be garnered.
Daryl led of with a 4 point 20’s hand followed by an upper teen by Square Dice, then Teflon Don topped off the sequence with another 20’s. Our ammo boxes were filled to fire more rounds after some CF-ers in SL hook tried their short-lived attempts. Now starting from SR1 we were set up for the infamous Murders Row (SR1, SL1-2-3). That’s a reference to the early Yankee’s batting lineup. Twice around this line up over the next 2.5 hours provide a solid payday for all. No one had less than a 15-roll hand over that span. Daryl provided the best roll of the evening on his 2nd attempt which eclipsed 40.
The next day we agreed to meet for dinner at a great Mexican place to sketch our the week end plans. Canadian Daryl was so happy to finally get to shoot with other GTC-ers his enthusiasm was boundless. Since he did not yet have a GTC handle we decided to give him one. His rolls were thrilling for us and chilling for the casino we decided on his new handle – Polar Express which implies his northern Edmonton cold locale.
The rest of the weekend had similar results except one session at a south LV location even though Scooter lead off with a solid 28 roll hand hitting all box numbers except the last roll.
Ten Man and Teflon Don have formed a shooting group copied after the CHICAGO WRECKING CREW. They call themselves the SIN CITY SHOOTERS. After the weekend revelry Ten Man and Teflon Don are now honorary members of the CHICAGO WRECKING CREW (shirts have been ordered). In reciprocal fashion Scooter and Hard Nine are honorary members of the SIN CITY SHOOTERS. This new found alliance offers great collaboration for all members to join up when ever anyone visit the other’s home turf.
A future trip to Reno is planned for late May early June. Hard Way Joe (original member of the CHICAGO WRECKING CREW), now semi-retired in Montana is planning to join up in Reno. A trip report will follow.
