Beware of the so called CNF restaurant fee in Vegas

Spread the love

Just found out that many restaurants in casinos are charging a so called "Concession Franchise Fee"–CNF for short so look for on your bill. This a fee similar to a hotel resort fee to help the restaurant cover the cost of having the advantage of a location in a casino, but you absolutely get nothing for paying the extra amount. It is a 4.7% extra charge listed on your bill at some restaurants. So for a $50 meal it is $2.39 that will be added to your bill. Doesn’t sound like much, But during a multiple night trip the amount will add up. Be on the look out for the charge. We read that the fee can be negotiable or even eliminated if you ask–demand?? Or you can certainly use your feet to walk while making a bit of a loud departure. Seems every one wants on the gravy train of extra fees. Vegas it is a-changing.

If you have not encountered this just be alert for it.

How are the Valet attendants making out under the Parking fees charged now, anyone with knowledge? Caught me completely by surprise several years ago. Who would have thought that the Mega casinos would hold your car hostage when they want your bucks at the tables so bad.

My way of dealing with the parking fees might be draconian, but … Prior to these fees when picking up from the valet I toked $5 bucks, not much but consider I drive everywhere rather than cab or shanks mare. That fiver amounted to twenty or thirty over the course of a day, sometimes more. Now it’s low because I don’t toke at the places that charge me a fee. And I let the attendants know why I don’t. Sure hope they aren’t working for Minimum wage plus tips or that they have a Union ……….

Thanks for the headsup Doc. That is a common occurrence here in San Francisco e.g., an additional fee to cover the expense of employee benefits. You laugh, but you are right, it all adds up over time.

Thanks for the heads up. I find it irritating when a business tries to pawn off their expense for the cost of doing business. Can you imaging if they start charging you a rent percent fee. As for parking, I hate when anyone charges you for parking to do business with them.
