Had several successful times at the table using the five count but one stands out in my mind. When any player does not make the five count I put a $1 chip in my pocket so that at the end of a given session I know how many shooters did not make the five count. One example stands out in my mind.
Went down early and found the following situation. Two GTC players at SL 1 and 2, one random roller at the end of the table SR, and 2 random rollers at SR 1 and 2. The GTC player at SL 1 had the dice and as I was getting my money out of my pocket when he made his point with the 2nd roll that I witnessed. Since it was a break in the action, I bought in. He established a new point and had a 7 out when I placed a come bet out on the 1st roll after he completed the five count. I am now up $10. One successful use of the 5 count. The GTC student at SL 2 did not make the 5 count. Now i have 2 successful uses of the 5 count.
The random roller at the end of the table SR did not make the 5 count. Both random rollers at the SR 1 and 2 did not make the 5 count. That brings me up to 5 successful uses of the 5 count.
The GTC student at SL 1 did not make the five count. I now have 6 successful uses of the 5 count.
All the players but the GTC young men at SL 1 and 2 and me left the table. I headed to SL 1 not to roll as I am right handed, but to save a place for Rose. At this point I have not made a bet except for the $10 come bet which I won. The GTC player at SL2 not only made the 5 count, but rolled the dice 22 times banging out 6’s and 8’s all over the place with some 5’s, 9’s, 4’s and 10’s throw in for good measure.
I colored up with a $400 profit.
Since my bet on random rollers is a $10 come bet with $10 in odds, if multiplied by the 6 successful uses of the 5 count, I did not lose $120 I would normally bet on them should they make the five count. That’s 6 times $20!
I will say the the 2 GTC players at SL1 and 2 had shots that were looking good, just the very short rolls that occasionally we all make from time to time. So I was prepared to bet on them when the time came.
I know this is a very small sample, but I estimate that I had a minimum of 25 shooters not making the 5 count during the time in AC for a large savings.
Bottom line–YES the 5 count does work.
Doc
P.S. As a reminder, your GTC manual has a couple of pages of explanation of the 5 count on page 36 & 37. Hope this is helpful!…. Rose

I haven’t gone more than about once a week, and don’t stay long when I do go. But when I do, I find the 5 count help me avoid losing money quickly. It still gives some action, but not on short rolls. When I do make a bet I keep waiting to collect 3x, but that really hasn’t happened. The shooters 7-out before I collect 3 times.
Collecting 3X for the conservative approach is rarely going to happen unless you get LUCKY and are at a table when a random roller has a bog roll.
The5-count is there to do what it did for you and Doc – SAVE YOU MONEY!
